Author seeks to tell of its place in social history as a country house of the Sheffield family and include biographies of family members. Each head of the household (or 'baronets') are known for their choices to uphold the home, maintain the farmland, and having issues with tenant who poach and refuse to pay rent. It's all fairly dry, has a loose timeline, and time passes quickly.

Well written and good illustrations.

Well researched and very informative.One error is that Burton on Stather stands by the River Trent not the Humber!
