I purchased this map after having a terrible experience with another map from a different manufacturer. Despite having to request a replacement on this item because it arrived bent, I'm incredibly happy with the final product. The black finish on the map is high gloss while to gold material on the countries prior to scratching is matte in texture. As you scratch away the matte cover, it reveals a set of stunning watercolor-like colors. The map is also the perfect size for a standard frame!Overall, the quality of this map is outstanding and it looks fantastic hanging up in the house! I've already received so many comments on how good it looks in the short amount of time I've had it.

Just as beautiful in person! I can't wait to travel to more places so I can uncover more color. There were some very slight scratches that showed color through before I got the map and it appears some countries names are missing, like Chile, but otherwise I am so happy with it and would recommend!

I really love this scratch off map because it allows you to see all the countries of the world. It puts a sense of adventure in you to see where you should travel next. I wanted to be creative and so I transformed it into a head board. The only thing I don't like are the islands are all jumbled really close together so it's hard to see and learn the countries. I got the largest one because I thought I wouldn't have that problem. It isn't a deal breaker for me and I still love it. I advise that if you don't go the picture frame route like me, when you unroll it, roll it the opposite way and stick it back into the canister or lay heavy books then gorilla glueonto the surface. Otherwise you will have curled ends.

I bought this map for my daughter for Christmas 2017. After about 4 months we were no longer able to scratch off the gold from any of the countries. Very disappointing. The map has just been hung on her wall in her bedroom since last Christmas, so it has not been placed in any unusual conditions (i.e. extreme heat or cold). It just doesn’t work.

First, the good stuff. This is a beautiful, high quality map. The paper is thick and sturdy, the black background has a nice glossy sheen to it. Scratching off the gold is not difficult to do, nor is it so easy that you accidentally scratch a country off if you rub your finger on it. Do be careful with fingernails, etc, though...my husband put a nic in Mexico accidentally. (Totally his fault).The font used to name the countries is modern and goes with the design. Once you scratch off a place, the watercolor that shows through is just gorgeous...especially in contrast to the black background. It makes you want to travel more so you can scratch off more places.Now, the two tiny negative things are not much...but I do have to mention them. There is no Easter Island on this map. Rapa Nui is missing, which is a shame because that's a bucket list destination for the hubby and me. Less annoying is the fact that the watercolor behind Hawaii is dark blue/purple...and you can't really see it very well against that sea of black. You really have to look for Hawaii once it's scratched off...and you can't scratch off individual islands really...because the ones in the middle are sort of all under the same gold section.Even with the little bit of negative I had to say, I would buy this again in a heartbeat. In fact, a friend of mine is just about to get her passport and I'm going to buy one for her and her husband as a gift.

I've done some traveling in my 31 years, and there's a whole lot of places I still want to go. I purchased this map because I like the visual representation of my travels. It makes me want to travel more, so I can reveal more of the colors underneath the gold. I can truly say I'm happy with my purchase. In fact, I'm half considering buying another as a gift for someone.As for the map itself. It came in great condition, especially considering the delivery drivers left the package out in the rain. The black background contrasts nicely with both the gold foil, and the colored map underneath. There is a small scraper included, and it scratches the gold off very easily; I suggest going slow when you near state/country borders, so you don't scratch off and reveal too much.If you're on the fence about purchasing this item, I say go for it. Hopefully you'll enjoy it as much as I do!

I am so happy with this purchase. The map arrived undamaged, and I couldn't wait to scratch off the countries I've been to. The watercolor underneath is very nice and bright, so it's a good contrast behind the black background. I have it hanging in my office and many of my coworkers now want to order one!

Beautiful poster. Having a lot of fun scratching off where we have traveled. Comes in a sturdy tube that we will keep for later storage. It’s on the wall now. Watercolor design is very nice.

The colours are beautiful and the map itself is very artistic. Although you can find the same style of map for much cheaper, this map is definitely worth the extra investment. Where previous maps have quite dull colours, this map has a rich, vivid array of watercolours that really stand out and add colour to your room. 100% recommend this product!

Great map, I got it as a birthday present and was pleasantly surprised about the packaging very happy and would recommend. This is an XL but about 2cm on each side are folded with the wall

We were wanting our own travel map and this is definitely larger than normal and also more beautifully coloured underneath. The only shortcoming is that the metallic covering is pretty hard to scrape off without leaving marks, even with the plastic scrapey thing supplied. The other ones I've tried scrapes easily with coins. Otherwise, nice map.
