I ride a stock Indian Roadmaster so it’s not a loud VTwin. I wear an LS2 Advant II helmet. I absolutely love these ear plugs. They are easy to put in, they don’t try to pop out when I put my helmet on or take it off, and they reduce noise tremendously. When you first wear them you’ll think they aren’t doing much but you’ll find that you can hear your music at a lower volume and hear your pipes with minimal wind noise. Also, I’ve always hated wearing ear plugs, but after a few rides you forget they are there. For highway I wear the reds and around town the blacks although they both work great in either scenario. The Alpine earplugs do a pretty good job of cutting wind noise, but still allow me to hear music in the background and make a phone call if necessary. They don’t hurt my ears, are easy to insert and remove, and the center stems don’t stick out and rub against my helmet lining. I use the “tour” type and they work well for me. I did notice I can hear the helmet speakers better in my Shoei helmet than my older Bell Star. The Bell has ton of vents and is not known as a quiet helmet, so no surprise there. I was impressed with the Alpine MotoSafe plugs enough that I ordered a second pair for backup and/or passenger use. I accidentally ordered the “race” type but I haven’t tried them yet to see how different they are. My daughter wore them for several hours on a ride with me and had no complaints. She could still hear her music and talk to me via bluetooth intercom. When I originally bought these, I also ordered a pair of Earos to try at the same time. They seemed to be good quality, and I tried them for a few minutes, but the Alpines just fit and worked better for me, so I returned the Earos. They absolutely do cut down on noise while allowing you to hear, and they're very comfortable! The little case they come is is very nice also. I have a Honda Cb500x with a moderately noisy exhaust, and without earplugs, the noise is not bad inside of your helmet. With these earplugs however the exhaust noise becomes almost unbearable inside my helmet, it feels much louder than it actually is. I'm not sure if it's my helmet or something else, but because of my exhaust these are unusable both the red and black models. All of that said, they do have a plus! I wore them to a fairly heavy music concert and they did excellent! The decibels were definitely reduced to a comfortable level, and sound was still pretty clear- much better than foam earplugs!
