Children and adults will love these hand carved soapstone elephant figurines. They are small enough to be carried in a pocket as a totem, can be displayed as artwork, or be played with as a jungle animal. These were hand made near the small village of Tabaka in the Kisii District of western Kenya, where there is a large deposit of mineral steatite, or soapstone. The local people have carved pipes and utensils from this material for many years. Now they carve assorted items sold around the world. As these elephants are handmade from a natural product, slight imperfections may occur.
