**Q: Can this drive be password protected?**
A: On Linux it is very easy to use password protection at the software filesystem level with LUKS. A layer on top of an encrypted virtual filesystem such as gocryptfs, etc. is also an option.

**Q: Does this eject from context menu like regular flash drive, or must you use systray?**
A: Acts like typical usb drive for me when I write click within file explorer with eject option.

**Q: Does it come formatted?**
A: It did not require formatting when I purchased it to use with an iMac running the Mac OS operating system.

I’ve been very impressed with the Kingston DataTraveler Max 1TB flash drive. It’s extremely fast compared to typical USB drives, which makes transferring large files or backups quick and easy. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Blazingly fast!

No matter the shortcomings of this flash drive, if you need to move big files around - this sucker is irreplaceable. -I don't mind the longer form factor of the drive but the port slide-out process is not smooth, and the overall plastic feels worryingly thin. See Admiral Ackbar for a size visualization. -I'm not sure why they went with this choice for the plastic (thin!) but possibly its for heat-dissipation reasons. This is not gonna survive many drops or squish-events in a computer bag. -The blue activity light is fairly dim and unobtrusive; all drives should have visual indicators, so that's a win. -Again, did I mention the speed? Even on an older Windows 7 computer (shh, don't tell Microsoft) this thing has zero hiccups. Files that previously took me 25min to move over, blaze over in less than 4 minutes. No idea how it does what it does, but golly is it welcome. -I've had good luck in the past with Kingston drives so I don't have any immediate concerns about reliability. -Comes formatted as exFAT, so it is already interoperable with other OSes. No frills, no software to install. 512GB model will show 476GB available for fillin'. TLDR, maybe don't keep this on a keychain that you drop a lot, treat it like a dainty mechanical pencil that you love.
