Yes it has at least 3 pockets. I've had it a while and is a very good jacket.

Q: Does it keep other bugs out?

Is an excellent bug protection jacket. May not be successful against no-seeums.

Q: Is the fabric true to the picture? I'm looking for a mesh for hot summer work but I saw customers' photos as a regular cotton jacket

It is definitely a mesh, except for the pockets. It is cooler than a cotton duck fabric typically used for a bee jacket, but you will probably still get somewhat hot inside it during the heat of the summer. The mesh fabric is a kind of polyester. Recommend wearing a lightweight wicking tee shirt during hot weather.
