For nearly 100 years, Rit fabric dyes have earned an excellent reputation throughout the world and have also been awarded the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval. Pilgrim Dye Colors sells all 32 Rit Core Dye colors and over 150 Rit Blended Dye colors. Full strength Rit liquid dyes are purchased in bulk directly from Rit and blended to specific Rit color formulas. Each color is completely ready based on what is needed to produce 1 gallon of dye water. Pilgrim Dye Colors full strength liquid dyes are then absorbed into the round shipping sponge(s) to conform to USPS shipping regulations. Rit All-Purpose Liquid Dye will dye washable fabrics containing natural fibers like cotton, linen, wool, silk and ramie. Rit dyes cotton, silk, wool and rayon best. It can also dye nylon and rayon. It does not dye polyester well, but works fine for polyester blends so long as they're less than 40 percent polyester. If you wish to dye synthetic fibers like polyester, acrylic or acetate please use our 12 additional Rit DyeMore colors. To obtain the best results we recommend using the stove top method of dyeing. Cut open the heavy plastic bag and place the colored sponge(s) into a large empty pot, pail or plastic kitchen sized garbage can. Add approximately ½ cup of table salt when dyeing cotton. Slowly add 1 gallon of very hot water to your dye water container stirring thoroughly to release the full strength Rit dye in the sponge(s) into the water. Soak your fabric in hot water before dyeing it. Your fabric MUST remain totally, loosely, submerged in the dye water during the entire dyeing process to obtain a uniform color throughout! Stir the fabric frequently for 30 to 60 minutes or until your piece becomes the darkness that you desire. Shorter periods of time will result in more of a pastel shade while longer periods result in deeper stronger colors. Rinse your fabric in running cold water until the rinse water runs clear. Hang to dry or dry in a cool clothes dryer.
