These lights have a very strong smell out of the box. I let them sit by an open widow for 2 months, and the plastic smell has dissipated a lot, but still strong when sniffing close to it. I will give an update on function after the solar panel has sat in the sun for a day,

The lights were pretty while they worked. The reason I "hate" is because - hooked them up in May - as of last week (July 11), they no longer work. They are on a fence where nothing touches them, so I know they didn't get harmed - I checked them out good - I even changed the battery. I even changed the location, thinking maybe not enough sun. NOT! Considering I spent $16 change - yes, I've got to go with "hate" them because of COURSE, after May such & such - well, that was my deadline for wanting to return them. Seems they have it timed PERFECTLY, doesn't it? Too bad - they looked nice for the few weeks they worked. I tried everything. So I'm out $16 with a set of lights that don't work. Thanks, NEWTK! I tried writing directly to them, but of course, I couldn't get there.
