I use it for round flat brass tags for identifying lock keys. Marks deeper on aluminum ; shallower on hardened steel or cast iron. Should work well on thick plastics or hardwood. Don't try it on glass or hard glazed ceramics that can shatter into small sharp pieces. Best to wear safety glasses if you are going to get your face within a foot or so of the work surface. **Q: This works with 220V? Worked well. There is an extra set screw included but it is a spare. There is already a set screw installed but it is tiny and hard to see. I kept trying to install the spare and it would not fit because there was already a set screw installed. Back out the already installed set screw a little bit and the engraving tip drops easily into place. I needed it for a larger engraving project on steel, and it did the job. The sound is definitely loud, and eventually the tool will get warm with use. The instructions say to use for no more than 10 minutes at a time, and since it’s powerful I found that you get a better grip and better lines when wearing thick gloves. The tip is durable, I was able to do a lot of work before it needed to be changed.
