WZRD is Kid Cudi s alternative music personality. The Rock record is a departure from Kid Cudi the hip hop MC, but true to Cudi as an artist.

Just be quiet and listen...to the album!
I heard "Where Did You Sleep Last Night" and immediately Googled the title. I knew I had heard that before and when I realized it was from Nirvana Unplugged (though many others have covered it before) I applauded! I was so excited to see Cudi able to really step away from that currently sell out mess they call Hip Hop (uh, can you say Lil Wayne and his fuzzy yellow hat?). Kid did something fresh and different. People like what is familiar and this is not. Change is good. Different is good. Grunge didn't take off in a day. Look at what Elvis did to make rock a household name. I had no idea what to expect and am pleasantly surprised. I am sick of the same old rap and hip hop songs they play over and over and over again on the radio. It is so refreshing to be able to put this album on and hear new music (not to be mistaken with music that is new). Look at bands like Pink Floyd - they had amazing albums that never saw the commercial success that Dark Side of the Moon or The Wall did - didn't mean they weren't awesome (ie: Meddle)! A good ARTIST has many facets and progresses, grows and changes. So many of the rappers and hip hoppers out there today are not true artists. I am glad he took it to the next level. Not bad for a Kid from Cleveland. Go Cudi!

Pleasantly surprised that a rap artist can so easily make a decent rock album...true talent!
I downloaded this album because I am such a huge Kid Cudi fan and he hasn't made anything that I haven't liked. It took a couple of listens for me to fully appreciate the album. It is kinda surpising and cool to have an artist go out of their comfort zone and try something new. Cudi learned to play the guitar a year before releasing this album, it's amazing the album turned out so well. He covers a Nirvana song on here pretty successfully, "Where Did You Sleep Last Night?" The replay value of this album is high and I highly recommend it, every song is great. The best songs on the album in my opinion are "Teleport 2 me, Jamie," "The Dream Time Machine," "Upper Room," "High Off Life," "Dr. Pill," "Live & Learn," "Where Did You Sleep Last Night?," and "Love Hard."

3 1/2 Stars for Something Different.
Kid Cudi has been in the music business for almost 5 years now, and with this 3rd studio album we have a brand new Cudi for the masses. I have been a fan of Cudi since he dropped his debut album "Man on the Moon: The End of Day" back in 09 and I have been constantly on the lookout for any type of music this guy has been dishing out ever since. WZRD is a duo consisting of Kid Cudi and his long-time producer Dot da Genius and with this long relevancy still intact, they decided to drop an LP composed of different sounds of rock music. Needless to say, this is nothing similar to the "usual" Kid Cudi , this is comepletely its own monster and I have to say it is pretty darn good stuff.Kid Cudi exploring rock music is nothing new, he has attempted to fuse rock with his sound on Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager, albeit this is sonically his musical home genre (unlike Lil Wayne's horrendous Rebirth album) Cudi seems almost right at home when he is singing on this album. The album's sound is diverse ranging from hard rock cuts like "High Off Life" to more accoustic rock such as "Efflictim". The production provided by Dot da Genius is pretty well done, although almost every track has distorted backdrops (but that is probably intentional). Kid Cudi has been synonymous with Marijuana, his past 2 albums have been inspired by the great pot leaf which has pushed Cudi to new limits and ideas for the past 3 years. When news got out that he has now become sober, there has been speculation by Cudi fans alike if he can make the same calibur of music throughout an entire album without any drugs in his system. The answer sadly is NO, it is not the same Kid Cudi from the last 2 albums whatsoever. While I have nothing against sober Cudi, you can tell some of the creativity has been altered. Kid Cudi even said himself that without drugs in his system he had writers block for a good 6 monthes. BUT, in retrospect this is a more mature Cudder with no profanity filled with more positive messages in his lyrics. The sound of Cudi's voice has never sounded better, and the production on this album only compliements Cudi's unique singing voice. Songs like "Teleport 2 Me, Jamie" and "Love Hard" are perfect examples of his wonderful unique melodic tone. The only bad thing I can't get over is that none of the material on WZRD eclipses Kid Cudi's earlier work from the Man on the Moon series. Obviosly this is a WZRD album not a Kid Cudi album (per se), but as a fan I can't say this album is as innovative as his past 2 albums. What this album has to offer is a great fusion of rock songs, not every song is a hit but it is definitely worth a listen.Top Tracks:1) Teleport 2 Me, Jamie feat. Desire2) Love Hard3) Live & Learn4) Brake5) The Dream Time Machine feat. Empire of the Sun

This is WZRD, not KiD CuDi. Great Album.
If you're looking for the dark and grimm KiD CuDi music we've come to know and love over the past few years, this is not it. WZRD is something completely different. We get a look inside the new and brighter side of Scott Mescudi's mind. A mind that is finally free of the drugs that has held it back for so long. Anyone who listens to CuDi know he loves to experiment with his sounds. This album is no exception. There is a very wide range of sounds that mixes the producing skills of CuDi's longtime friend Dot da Genius and and the natural, unkempt sound of two guys who just started playing guitars and drums for the first time. All in all, this as much Dot da Genius' work as KiD CuDi's and they did an amazing job. I love it.

Can't Stop Jamming to this Album
What a wonderful album. WZRD did not disappoint.Favorite tracks I can listen to over and over:High Off LifeThe Dream MachineLove HardTeleport 2 Me, JaimeWhere did you sleep last night?EfflictimIf you love Rap and Hip-Hop, you might not like this album. If you love Kid Cudi then you will LOVE it!If you like a broad range of music then you will dig it. If you only like rap/hip-hop then you won't like it. If you know this album is a Rock album then why would you expect another Man on the Moon?People need to stop with the negative review on how this isn't like MM1 or 2. This isn't even a Kid Cudi album, it's a WZRD album.

I am an incredibly huge Kid Cudi fan! His first 2 major albums (man on the moon 1 &2) were great and showed just how different he is compared to other mainstream artists. I knew this album would be different from past albums because he had said so himself. After listening to this album the first couple times, I was conflicted but after a few more plays I fell in love with what he produced. It had more of a rock sound compared to his upbeat/hip-hop music he has previously produced. 'The Upper Room' and 'Efflictum' were my 2 favorite tracks! I highly recommend this album but keep in mind it is different from his other work.
