Pretty leather, mediocre paper
This leather is quite pretty - it's not exactly thick or dense or even all that soft, and feels a little dry in the inside, but when you fold it it spreads beautiful lightened crease marks like those high quality aged buffalo leathers. It's the only journal of its kind among many that I've found on Amazon that has this look - dark at first glance, and instantly gaining a gentle spread of creases (not just scratchy, harsh fold line) when you fold. That said, the leather doesn't have the full grain on it - it's sanded down, so the hand feel is decent but nothing to write home about, and like many of its contemporaries, this journal has a dry, powder-dust feel. Pages are meh; not aged but just dark colored paper that's been dunked in water and dried with water stains. For once it's got a true 9x6 size as it claims, and the wraparound cord, while a bit thin, also has that nice creased look and is soft to the touch. I'd like this to come in a different closure - something that isn't fussily wrapped around and around - and hopefully the seller offers the leather in a bit softer, thicker varieties in the future, and hopefully even refillable... with better paper. The smell of wet moldy paper is what caused me to return this.

Beautiful Rustic Journal
The company tried to make it right, which speaks volumes. At first I received the journal in unacceptable condition. In turn, MBExports contacted me to offer to resolve the situation. What I received was in MUCH better condition. These are very nice, rustic, well-constructed books. I like the REAL leather cover and lace binding and page grouping. My only concern is how the pages are held inside the binding. These are not rugged as hoped for and should be handled with care. I hope they take my suggestion and use round hole punches rather than a slit. As it is now, the slits can turn into tears. As it is, the back page has torn. The Good: The paper is of good quality stock. Good quality leather cover and wrap-around. Smells like quality leather and is a pleasure to write in.The Not-So-Good (But not necessarily bad): Cuts for the lace binding may tear with use.I would recommend these journals for writers who like rustic leather, writing on quality paper, and the feel of history. Handle with care though, this is not something to be tossed around. In and out of a backpack/knapsack (for taking to work, school, or travel) for writing on-the-go should be fine so long as one is not terribly rough with it.Hopefully, the manufacturer can take my suggestion and make this a bit more rugged and sturdy.I give this a 4.25-Star rating. 5 if I was not concerned about the method of preparing the paper for binding. However, I would LOVE to give a 5-Star rating.*This is my honest, unbiased review.

Great journal
I love this journal for all my sketches the pages are thick and accommodate staples, and paper clips and the wrap keeps everything tidy.

this paper is difficult to write on but everything else is great
I love the look and feel of this journal. It travels well. The problem, is that the paper is not good to write on. I even bought special pens to write with. Maybe change the type of paper or include a pen that works well with the paper.

Absolutely beautiful
This journal was stunning. I returned it because I was going to use it for a photo shoot but used something else instead. I tried to justify keeping it but it was too beautiful for me to write in. I considered gifting it and if COVID19 didn’t exist I would’ve.
