I was trying to connect my 2018 15" MacBook Pro to my 2008 30" Apple Cinema HD Display. I had a similar setup with the Cinema HD Display and my 2011 MacBook Pro, but since apple feels the need to change all their ports every other year, I needed to find a cheap and easy solution. I first purchased a similar adaptor from another manufacturer, but the signal would not pass through the adaptor. I was worried that I was going to have to purchase a whole new monitor. But, I decided to give it one more attempt. Based on other people's experiences, i decided to try this one. I plugged it in, and it worked instantly. It should be noted that the 30" Cinema HD Display still requires the Apple Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter

I was (finally!) successful in connecting my MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2016, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports) to my 2560x1400 27" Korean Monitor!The journey was long friends, I tried and failed with so many combinations of adapters and cables and finally:this Amiroko USB-C to Mini Displayport Adapter + Apple Mini Displayport to Dual-link DVI Adapter + my existing USB-C (Thunderbolt 3) to USB adapter hub/splitter = SUCCESS.What did not work:1. USB-C (Thunderbolt 3) to DVI Adapter2. DisplayPort to DVI-D Single-link adapter3. Apple Mini-DVI to DVI Adapter A1305It seems like Apple no longer makes the Apple Mini Displayport to Dual-link DVI Adapter, I found mine online second-hand for a steal!

I needed a solution for my 2018 MacBook Pro external monitor situation. I can’t afford the price of OWC’s 13 port dock, so this will have to do for now. Quality component and works as advertised. My only complaint being that the USB-C/Thunderbolt connector is very difficult to insert, almost to the point that it caused concern. My other TB 3 cables slide in with ease, but this one for some reason requires a great deal of negotiating to seat properly. Time will tell if this will damage my compete.

I purchased 2 of these to allow my MacBook Pro to feed my vintage Apple 30" Cinema Display after the CableCreation Type C to Mini DP Adapter I was using, through the Apple Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter, got a bit wonky. Suffice it to say that neither of these adapters worked. I was just left with a blank 30-inch monitor even though it appeared that the computer was perceiving that an external monitor was attached. I don't know why my setup differs from all those who have said their Amiroko adapters worked properly--it appears we used the same setup--but I'm hoping the CableCreations adapter becomes available again soon.

I have an old 30-inch cinema display which I've used for years. I had the dual-link DVI video card on my Mac Pro, then the Mini-DisplayPort adapter for a Macbook Pro, and finally I tried to get a USB-C adapter for my newer Macbook Pro.The good: yes, it *does* work with the Mini-DisplayPort adapter. Obviously, please heed the warnings about this not being a thunderbolt adapter, but if you're using the right pieces, it works.The bad: it's cheap. My main complaint is the actual female Mini-DisplayPort connector they put into the device is terrible. Every time I plug/unplug the USB-C side (yes, the USB-C side, not the Mini-DisplayPort side) from my laptop, I have about a 50/50 chance for the Mini-DisplayPort cable to shift ever so slightly, causing the connection to fail. This means I'm constantly having to jiggle the Mini-DisplayPort cable in its socket, hoping that I'll get *just* the right alignment inside. It's gets quite frustrating after a while. I also suspect there's issues with the order in which cables (the USB-B connector to the monitor needs its own separate adapter) must be plugged in. And finally, I've not yet gotten this adapter to work through any other USB-C peripheral (which includes extenders like the ubiquitous USB-C-to-USB/video/power adapters every Macbook owner has six of. So expect to have to plug it directly into your computer.The ugly: it's got inconsistent electrical noise. It's not bad, but occasionally I'll get colorful noisy horizontal lines in parts of the screen. It's not been enough to bother me, especially since it's not always there, but it's been enough to notice it time to time. It's usually when watching video or dynamic graphics on dark backgrounds (the color pops a bit against the background).Overall, yep, it'll do the job, but it's disappointing that they cut so many corners. The adapter suffers because of it.
