FUN!! Much like a cat chasing a flashlight beam... if the cat were a caffeine addict and had no regard for its surroundings
This car is about as perfect for a 3 year old as I can imagine! When looking to get my son a remote-control car, I was certain a full remote (Left, Right, Forward, Reverse - all variable) would be tough for him to master. At the same time, I was underwhelmed by the fun-factor of child R/C cars that either go super slow or dumb down the controls. This car is exceedingly fast (watch those toes!) and although you can have a blast with it even if you don't have a clue what you are doing, it really does have a steep learning curve on getting any semblance of true control from the IR gun control scheme. Think of a cat chasing a flashlight beam... now give that same cat 50 cups of coffee and you have some idea of the manic fun that this car provides. Another easy & fun capability is that when hitting a bump, wall or obstacle causes the car to flip over, the LED lights in the wheels change to match the flip-side's car color and it just continues to race around uninterrupted. A few things could be annoying: 1) The car battery is recharged by AA batteries in the charging unit. Charges last 10-15 mins the way we use it, but you could use up a lot of batteries very quickly if this is your kids favorite toy. 2) Really only suitable for hard, flat floors, not carpet or uneven ground. 3) Because this car is really (no, REALLY) fast, it hits walls, furniture and bare feet with a LOT of momentum. DO use caution. In all, this was a great find and would absolutely please most young users (up to 10 y.o.)

Dead within an hour
This car worked for about 45 minutes on Christmas Eve, and since then, it will not take a charge in the rechargeable battery. Very disappointed. For the few minutes my grandson played with it, it seemed like fun, although at 4 years old I think he is a little too young to handle/maneuver it - it goes very fast. The car didn't seem to track the laser all that well, but then it was low on battery almost the whole time so it's hard to know whether it was a battery problem or that the car didn't track properly.

Great Car
Bought this car for my 5 year old son who tries to keep up with his 9 year old brother. They both have played with it quite a bit. They played with it Christmas morning, and about every other day since then. Very durable, and easy to use. As your skills get developed, it is easier to control and make do as you want it to, but even for the younger kids, they can make it go in the general direction they want it to, and they are happy. Great toy.

Blazing fast!
You are going to love this thing if you have open space and kids with loads of energy. The only drawback is due to high energy consumption the batteries only last about 15-20 minutes...but during that time this things blazes it is so fast. Get it, I don't think you will be disappointed unless you are looking to drive this more than the above listed time frame.

The car follows the laser most of the time. My 6yr old son has mastered theart of using it. Shinning the laser on the car helps to redirect it whenever it wants to do its own thing. Not a bad toy. It goes over the ramp most of the time.My son likes it so i like it. We have had it for a day so i cannot comment on it durability. It does have a reasonable play time before it has to be recharged.
