Oh, you simply pull the thing apart. One of them required a tremendous amount of force.Had to "fix" a few exit signs in the workplace. It seemed easier to buy entire replacement assemblies than to source the random bulbs or replace broken test switches. It probably took more time to remove the old things than install these. But among the varied methodologies previous electricians employed, the hardest work I had to do was use a step drill bit on one of the 4 locations I fixed.These are cheap, sure, but fairly well made. I'm an electrical engineer and also a product designer. A good bit of thought went into making these and I feel you're getting great value based on the cost and what you're delivered. A negative review complained about longevity - so get a new cheap RC battery. Or a whole replacement assembly. No biggie.If you're doing a new installation, you probably want a proper light box already there to mount this to.

We were required by our city to install lighted exit signs. We did not have the time or finances to hire an electrician to install them. These lights were at a very reasonable price and we were able to use a “extension” kit to install them with a cord and plug to use in a regular 110 outlet. They work flawlessly and we HAVE tested them. They lasted for over 90 minutes after cutting the power to them- we stopped counting at 95 minutes and plugged them back in. I would suggest these lights to any small business that needs lighted exit signs!

These were purchased for a Senior Center that I'm on the board for, replacing two older exit lights that haven't worked for over 20 years that required batteries that are no longer available to even light up. Perhaps it was the old building, but these were a bit difficult to mount on the existing ceiling boxes, and took some grinding on the hangers to get them to fit. Once installed they're working fine and we're legal again.Recommended.

I Was expecting Punch Out Areas On Sides And Bottom Of Perimeter Of Sighs To Install Fittings For Wiring / Conduit. Oh Well, I'll Make Them Work.....BUSTER

Replacing the conventional exit signs at church with these. Got tired of changing light bulbs in the old ones. CFLs and LEDs would not work in the enclosed fixtures. These are bright and have battery backup so even work when the power is out. Can be double-sided, although we don't need that feature.

product was used to replace old light that would not function on emergency mode. Had some difficultiesto install on ceiling, but once installed, worked well.

Overall great, the solid side plate is a little hard to get off for some of are configuration needs , also would help if base had more room for wires when there is no room in wall box.
