- Individual size of flag 7.5 x 5.5 inches. Length of one roll, 10 flags is 5 feet.
- The flags comes in five colors -, Blue symbolizes sky and space, White symbolizes air and wind, Red symbolizes fire, Green symbolizes water, Yellow symbolizes earth. The wind horse (Lung ta) represents good fortune and auspicious opportunities.
- The Tibetan prayer flag is dyed on long lasting nylon cloth with white cotton shoe lace like string for hanging.
- Small flags are usually hung on doors, windows, and tree branches, while the larger pray flags are hung on mountain passes and high ridges.

Because the symbols and mantras on prayer flags are sacred, they should be treated with respect. They should not be placed on the ground or used on clothing. Old prayer flags should be burned. The best time to put up new prayer flags is in the morning on sunny windy days. Old prayer flags are replaced with new ones annually on Losar, the Tibetan New Year.
