Does it's job well. S-Video isn't as clear as with an HDMI cable but that is the nature of S-Video. When you've got an older device, this adapter works like a charm. One thing - both ends of the S-Video cable are female so consider that when purchasing.

I bought this to connect my Chromecast device to an older television that did not have an HDMI connection. I connected the Chromecat to the HDMI connection on the converter and connected the RCA plugs on the converter to the corresponding color jacks on the television. Following the directions that accompanied the Chromecast receiver I attempted to use the Chromecast reciever, but I saw nothing on the t.v. screen no matter what I did :/A technician at my local Best Buy store said that he thought the problem is that HDMI uses a digital signal/connection and RCA jacks use an analog connection/signal format, so without a fairly complex and likely expensive converter the two formats wouldn't be compatible. Apparently these type of inexpensive converters are just a scam/rip off and would/could never work. You would be better off purchasing a more expensive/reputable unit - or just buying a newer T.V. (like I did).

Lets face it, standard definition sucks compared to HD so if you are using it to copy to DVD burner or VHS, the image is going to be poor at best, but it does its job. I think if I had a standard definition TV and watched my HD signal it would look very close to the results I'm getting. Remember this does not result in a high definition image, but it works!

So glad I was able to buy this product because at our church we have an older sound and video system and we are upgrading the DVD player and needed this item to convert the signal and sound over to one that we can use.

couldn't get the s cord to work. this is the 2nd one I received. Not wasting money to ship this one back like I did the first one.

Conversion adapters are a hit-or-miss proposition. I got this to convert my laserdisc to HDMI. it didn't work at all. This item might work with another type of electronic component but it didn't work on the Laserdisc, or xbox, so it was a no go for me. Also there was no real troubleshooting or instructions with it. I would not recommend
