Is this good to use for traveling?

Yes, we use them to hold our cat and dog treats for a long trip. I also place treats for the humans on the trip in a separate one. I love these and use them for just about everything.

Can you wash in the dishwasher?

We do not recommend washing the container in the dishwasher as it may cause scratches.

Can the middle plastic piece for lid come off? I unscrewed the middle part of lid but it won't come off.

i think that would defeat the purpose of the comtainer.
