It sure does. It takes maybe 8 minutes to pump.out half the water in a 100 gallon tank. Of course it makes quicker work on the 50g and 35g tanks. The pump does have a whine to it but it is not awful and is not loud enough to scare the cat. I have a new 8ah battery and it looks like it could fit a 12 but I cannot vouch for that. I appreciate that the hose fittings are metal. The pump is self-priming which was a must have feature for me. I use it to drain 40 gal hot water heaters **Q: Can this pump handle silt or dirty water. I do excavation and need something to drain puddles and tire tracks.** A: I would limit the dirt as it will score the inside of the housing.
