The base is a solid piece of wood. Not the kind that is hallow in the middle or has the veneer outside on top of cheap particle pressed wood. I liked the mahogany color of the base too. I don't know why but the dark color wood just adds a bit of richness to any item. Incredibly easy to create. It took very little time to do. Around 5 minutes and that is only because my daughter messed up placing her hand on the ink at first. The ink sheets are very easy to use creating no mess in inking hands or feet. The ink washes off just fine with soap and water, cleaned her face up real fast. It really was a quick process from start to finish.

What an adorable gift or souvenir idea! I love this! I am sure that I will be ordering more of these over the years. I have 4 little ones at home and this would be awesome to do every year while they play tee-ball and then baseball. I also think this will make an awesome gift, so I will be buying some to give as gifts as well. You can preserve the memories of your child through the small handprint on the ball and a picture of your child when they made the handprint. I would definitely recommend this looking for a cool way to preserve some of the memories of your child(ren) growing up or looking for a unique gift idea!

Bought this for my husband who collects signed baseballs. He loved it! I was able to get both my 3 year old and 9 month olds hand prints on the ball. Super cute!

Gave this gift for Father's Day and it was a huge hit! The handprint is hard to do bc u only get one chance, so we practiced on regular paper a few times. Great purchase!
