responsive company
I'm shopping for a FIR pad for my knees and felt I needed more info about this product before I could decide whether or not to buy it. I wrote to the company, asking several questions and I very much appreciate their thorough response. I haven't decided or purchased a product yet, so my 5 stars are for their responsiveness. Here's my Q and their A :1. Q: How many temperature settings?A: There is only an " On and Off" switch. There are no heat settings. All of our products only go to mid-40 degrees. So not very hot more-so warm to the touch. Our products have been proven to penetrate 2.36 inches so 6cm through the body. Normal heating pads usually only heat the surface of the skin where as Thermotex products go deep and penetrate through muscles and issues in the body.2. Q: What are the 2 far infrared inserts made of?A: Our inserts are - A patented carbon impregnated fibreglass mat. So when electricity is applied it produces far infrared energy.3. Q: Does it shut off automatically?A: No, none of our products shut off by themselves. You have to turn off the heating pad if you don't want it on anymore. They do not use a lot of electricity - it's only 4 cents a day. Therefore they are not very expensive to keep on if you chose to use it all day or forget to turn it off after you're done using it. Very cost efficient.4. Q: How is it powered?A: All of our products are powered by an electrical wall outlet that you plug the product into. If you wanted to use it in your vehicle for traveling you could do so -- just would need a converter. Our plugs are made for the north American market so depending on your location you may need a converter if your plug in outlets are different then in north America or Canada.5. Q: Is any part of it washable?A: Yes you can wash the covers of all our products. You can't wash any of the products with the inserts still inside as water might damage and wreck them. There's a velcro strip at the very bottom of the knee where the electrical cord comes out of. You would just open the velcro and remove the inserts before washing. The covers can be washed in the washer and then in your dryer on the low tumble setting.6. Q: Can I bend my knee when wearing it?A: Yes you can bend your knee while wearing the knee pad. You do need to be by a wall outlet and keep the product plugged in in order for it to continue to work. You can bend and move with it on though.7. Q: What kind of fabric is it?A: The fabric covers are made of polyester, nylon and cotton.

Small, does not flex
Product works well. Too small to wrap around mother’s enlarged arthritic knee joint.
