Dont buy this for a projector / tv combination due to basic audio defects
Says it supports advanced audio. Too bad it doesnt support basic audio. The matrix drops all audio to my tv under certain settings! I have four sources and two outputs one a plasma tv the other a projector. So I run this Matrix unit's spdif audio output to a Yamaha HTR 5740 receiver in my projector room. When I have both outputs set to the same source, the matrix drops the audio to the tv and I can only hear the Yamaha audio through the Matrix spdif out. This is probably by design but its a bad design decision and it is NOT "True Matrix" behavior!!Tonight I tried re routing audio to no avail - got worse even. I tried moving the spdif cable from the matrix to the tv's audio out. Now if I have both the projector and tv on the same source, there is no audio period. What a crappy design! There should always be audio.I also hate this Matrix unit because it cuts out ALL audio and ALL video for several seconds too long to ALL outputs whenever you make ANY setting change which is extremely rude.Further, whenever a setting change occurs on the Matrix, like I change source on output 2, if I am watching a video on Amazon prime, I have to reload the video web page to get audio to come back - in other words they found another way to drop audio out.My conclusion is that ViewHD loves to deny you the ability to listen to audio because they are so good at it.Also when I browse videos on Amazon prime whenever I click into the main page for a title, the Matrix somehow thinks Ive reconfigured and it goes to a green screen for a few seconds. Extremely rude. This only happens on Chrome somehow, not Internet Explorer but who uses IE anymore?I had another Matrix before this one and it was worse. Im hoping I can find a good one as a few years have passed since this purchase.Dont buy this unit for a tv / projector combination!Im looking to buy another Matrix.

Works Great
The product received is the product pictured when your are looking at the product page. Im not sure why its different when your viewing search results. Overall, this product works great. It does get warm, and it does have lights on it which are visible since you have to keep the product facing forward for the IR sensor. Neither of these facts bother me at all as its in a well ventilated area, and the lights are nothing in comparison to the annoyance of constantly switching HDMI cables behind the TV.I purchased this because I wanted to find a way to connect all my equipment (ps4, ps3, cable box, sound bar, and TV) to each other using the rawest form of the signal. Before, I had to have 2 cables for every counsel. 1 for the sound and 1 for picture. This allowed me to cut that in half. Just needing to connect 1 line to the matrix, and then 1 line from the matrix to the TV and 1 to the Bar. I just push buttons on the remote to change over what signal I want sent to the TV and Bar. Its brilliant!I did not receive any discounts for this review. It is of my own experience and paid for by myself.

Okay, but loses Video/Audio output regularly and requires extra device switching to restore.
This 4x2 Matrix is pretty useful. Being able to route multiple HDMI inputs to 2 different TVs is pretty cool. For the most part it is pretty straightforward to setup and use. The little remote is pretty clear, you just push which Input# you want to show up on which output. Not bad.Unfortunately, it's not the most reliable device. I don't mind the few seconds lag when switching between device assignments. Not a big deal as I have no need to switch all that often. The fact that it blanks out both outputs, even though you can only reassign one output at a time isn't great. If someone were watching/doing something on TV A, and you wanted to change the assignment on TV B, TV A is going to turn black and interrupt them for a few seconds. Not great.Sometimes the assignments seem to glitch out, and one of the outputs, ususally Output A, will just show "no signal". I've noticed it most if I were to have an input showing on both outputs. Then switch Output B to a different device. The new device will appear on Output B, but Output A will now have nothing. So I then have to switch A to a different device, then back to the first device to get it to show again. So basically, to switch B to something else I end up having to make 3 switches, at a few seconds per switch, it gets a bit annoying. The biggest problem however is that the device isn't even stable when I'm not switching things around. I mostly bought it for making occasional switches, but 90% of the time I will have the same devices assigned to each output. So it should just be able to sit there and pass the signal through, right? Nope. Pretty much daily Output B will have no sound. I will have to switch it to a different device and then back again to restore the sound output. Again, not the end of the world, but kind of obnoxious. And, as this wasn't the cheapest item of this type available, I expected a bit more stability that if I'd just picked the cheapest matrix I could find.So to sum up. It's an okay matrix, but I don't think it's price is warranted considering it has problems with stability and often requires extra switching of inputs around when it loses video and/or audio signal on an output for no apparent reason. If shopping again, I would look for a more reliable matrix.
