Personal Computers are Undergoing a Sea-Change
I had been considering getting an inexpensive Chromebook as my "travel computer" but was concerned about all the functionality I might lose. For a $6 investment in this book, not only were my fears allayed, but I'm now wondering why I really need the expensive computer at all!The author does an excellent job of explaining the sea-change that is occurring in computing. That change is driven by many things--security concerns, the time involved in updating all the proliferating programs and add-ons, cost, etc. Google has come up with a simple and elegant solution. This book goes one better, though: it explains many of the basic programs and functionality that already exist and how they can be utilized to replicate much of what has traditionally been accomplished by stand-alone (and expensive!) programs on millions of individual computers. And then there's the Chrome Store....as a Mac user of some years standing, I was used to the App Store and iTunes, but I was astonished to discover how many programs, mostly free, are already out there. The author persuasively argues that this is the wave of the future.

If Your New to the Cloud thei could be helpfull
I purchased this book along with my ACER Chromebook and it shortened my learning curve considerably. It's well written and an easy, quick read, I re-read this book several times as I worked with my Chromebook. Each time I learned something new about taking advantage of Google Chrome and Cloud computing. A very good book for anyone new to these concepts.

Excellent Tech Book
If you are going to purchase a Chromebook you probably need this book.I'm new to Google Chrome so I bought this book to get up to speed before purchasing.Book reads easily and is very concise. Descriptions of processes are followed -up with pictures .I had a question regarding conflicting Internet providers and I e-mailed the Author and believe it or not I received an immediate response.Amazon shipping was super fast.A Great purchase all the way around. I'll provide future reviews on" Chrome" as soon as I can leave a meaningful insight to the product.

OKnot great
book was not complete, was OK but did not fill my needs for a description of how the hardware and software is actually nused. Seemed very pedantic and formal for a book aimed a t average users

Loved the Book!
Finally, a book about Google Chrome that I can use. The chapters and sub-chapter headings were great for finding how-to-do information on things I knew Google Chrome could do, but I didn't know how to do them. And yet the book was also quite enjoyable to sit down and read all the way through. As I read through the book I found useful information on a number of things I didn't even know I could do with Google Chrome. Thank you George Root for a great book!

I have returned this product...
...because I absolutely hated my Google Cromebook, which I returned as well. After attending an all-day CLE on Saturday, for which I had counted on having access to online documents, I found the orignal box, cleared out the Chromebook as much I could, packed it up and this morning returned it to Amzon - Woo-hoo! I am finally rid of this frustrating and extremly disappointing purchase. And, based on others reaction to it . the biggest selling item on Amazon during Christmas season is likely to be the most returned item on Amazon this month! Like the commercial said, which I wish I had seen BEFORE making this purchase, I was Scroogled big time. So long Chromebook, time to buy an actual computer that will work for me.

Simple, Fast overview of the Chromebook.
With every electronic appliance - phone, computer, tablet, sprinkler system control box - you need to know a handful of steps. The other "stuff" you can look up in a manual when the time comes. This Kindle book is the missing manual with the Chromebook.Since the book is a "Kindle" and resides in the Cloud, it can be accessed when needed. The author did a great job of balancing between a series of a list of steps and the narrative. This is not an exhaustive discussion of all of the features of the Chromebook and how to root the system. It is an overview of 90% of what a user needs to know or needs to have access to information.Worth the money. Saves times.
