The media could not be loaded.  To put it simply, this mount does not LOCK your smartphone into place. I was shocked to see that Glif locking mechanism could be moved with light pressure from pinky finger AFTER a smartphone is locked into place. A quick movement of your smartphone could dislodge it and sent it flying. So disappointing. Do not buy. There are so many other CHEAPER items on the market that truly lock you phone into place.

Just received my Glif through Amazon and happy to be the first to review. As a reference, I have had a number of iPhone tripod mounts and I use them constantly for my video work. These include the original Glif for iPhone 4, GripTight Mount XL for JOBY and most recently, the Manfrotto Mount (the last two for my iPhone 7 Plus). All of these are good designs (of their time) and are of good quality construction. And I am not here to criticize them. I have been watching the progress of the latest Glif mount (since the original introduction on KickStarter) but was hesitant to order it directly from the manufacturer (since they charge for shipping and it would be more troublesome to return if I didn't like it). The product does everything the manufacturer claims and there is no reason to buy any other alternative if you care about your work. First, it is highly versatile in size, fitting both my iPhone 4 and my iPhone 7 Plus (with leather case). The latch design is ingenious and serves two functions. First when you open the clamp to insert the camera. It is very free and although spring loaded, you can use the latch to hold the clamp so that you can insert the camera and secure with one hand. This is important because often the Glif is mounted inside a camera cage. Also, unlike the other designs, the spring loading is very light so there is no chance of damaging the iPhone case and it is not a physical struggle to install the iPhone. Then once everything is in place, you simply push up the latch to lock the iPhone and the clamping action is so tight that there is no way for the iPhone to fall out. This is my first review on Amazon and I did so because I really admire the product. Hope you enjoy it as much and that it improves your work flow as it did mine.

As a former product designer, I was intrigued by this device in that it has the quick-release functionality of a spring, and threaded ends for attachments. Like all things that try to save on manufacturing cost, this product failed in a key area- namely the plastic lever used to lock the clamp in place. After only one day of using the clamp, the small grey plastic lever broke in half. Minimal pressure was used to lock the phone in the grip- and yet it failed. Another design flaw I see is that the overall width of the grip is so narrow, that the phone can teeter-totter even when locked in place. This means shots that aren't level and on video- shaky movement.

The lever that locks down the phone broke after about 5 uses. The lever has a design defect, In my opinion, because there is a little material where the lever broke. I recommend against buying unless this defect is fixed because it breaks easily. This could result in an expensive accident with a falling phone!

In my opinion, the important differance between this product and most other phone mounts is that this one has a positive lock on the phone, not just spring action. Your phone is solidly gripped by the mount until you release it. The rubber on the jaws has the slightest amount of give so it grips the phone without deforming it. Beyond performing its primary function perfectly, it goes a step furthers by being extremely versatile. It can be used as a stand of its own when placed at the very bottom of the phone. The 3 1/4 20 inserts mean you can mount it in several different ways, add handles, or a mic or light, or all of it. It is a great basis for a mobile photo or video rig, no matter what phone you have. It is well built, but if I ever had to replace it, I would do so with the same product in a heartbeat.

I had the original GLIF which was great (and can still be used). This newer version seems like a step backwards in terms of quality. As you can see the lever to lock the clamp snapped right off and now there is no way to lock it - ah well....There are probably cheaper better alternatives.

Opened the package, opened the lever to unlock it, put my phone in, went to close the lever to lock it, wouldn't close, lever broke in half. First time using this product. Not impressed. Was looking forward to using it, supposedly a great product... Bummer. Will try one from someone else.UPDATE: Was contacted by Studio Neat regarding the issue I had. They stood behind their product and I am currently testing out a replacement. So far no issues and it's working as expected and as others have noted. Updated my review to 3 stars for the outstanding service and will likely update it higher as I use the replacement and continue to not have issues with it. Thank you Studio Neat.Update 2: have had a chance to use the replacement. Works great! 4.5 if I could and only .5 from perfect for the first one broke.

I love this mount!! This was recommended by the iPhone Photography Academy and I am so glad I made this purchase! It's worth every dime and more. I had an inexpensive GoPro mount and it sprung the spring first time I tried to use it. I was even able to attach the Glif-Quick Release Tripod Mount right over my phone and a TFY Security Hand Strap and case with ease. No need to remove anything. It is also highly secure. It can be used on a tripod of selfie stick and can even attach to a short handle. Excellent quality!!

Le grip gris à l'arrière s'est cassé en utilisation normale, ça fait même pas 6 mois que je l'ai... Je l'avais eu pour noel et je l'utilise que de temps en temps (2 à 3 fois par mois). Je ne sais pas comment contacter le service après vente... Bref vraiment déçu. Le grip s'est cassé en voulant le refermer pour bloquer le téléphone.

Suite au changement de mon smartphone ma perche est devenue inutilisable (smartphone trop grand 😅) , j'ai donc acheté cette fixation pour pouvoir mettre mon smartphone sur mes petits et grands trépieds. La fixation du téléphone est parfaite, le téléphone une fois fixé ne bouge pas d'un mm, par contre la petite languette qui sert a bloquer/débloquer le téléphone ne semble pas très solide, pour une fixation très chère j'aurais aimé que la sensation de solidité soit là, de même que les finitions laissent un peu a désirer comme je l'ai photographié, quand on vend un produit a un prix haut de gamme il faut que les matériaux et les finitions suivent. Hormis le prix très cher et la sensation de solidité qui n'est pas là, je suis très satisfait de cette fixation a voir maintenant dans le temps...

Il fixe bien le téléphone, et très facile d'utilisation, quand on fixe le téléphone sur ce support, on peut lui faire confiance sans problème.Toutefois, je trouve le prix est un peu trop haut juste pour ce petit outil, mais quand on voit les autres pas chère qui se casse au bout de deux trois utilisations, ça vaut peut être le coût de prendre ça, vu les prix des téléphones

Purchase this July 2020.First time I used it 12th Mar 21The Grey leaver snapped clean off, this was with on pressure on it, at all.Now I can't get a replacement, because its out of Amazons time to return it or get it replaced.The when I look through the reviews, there is another purchaser where this has happened to them.Its not goo, poor design or poor materials or both I think Gliff should really re-think this and stop selling items which are not fit for purpose.Fil
