Living Your Colors: Practical Wisdom for Life, Love, Work, and Play

An understandable and accessible intro to personality profiles
I was introduced to the "True Colors" model of personality profiling as part of a professional development retreat. Working in Higher Education Student Services, we love our personality tools and inventories. I've taken a lot of these things over the years, but The True Colors has been my favorite, esp. as an "introductory" tool for self-exploration and communication work with students. After the training I wanted to get a bit more in-depth with this tool and Tom Maddron's book proved to be an easy to read review with great application of the True Colors spectrum to relationships, communication styles, work habits, leadership, etc.I will admit, the science is a little thin on the ground here. That said, this isn't supposed to be the "end-all, be-all" of self-understanding. It's one of many tools though that made particular sense to me, which is really the point - find what works for you. Tom is a professional therapist and his collaborators on this book were all professional educators, social works, and therapists. Solid enough for me.

I really like it. I want to use it at work ...
I am reading this book, I really like it. I want to use it at work and with the leadership of a Youth group. I like learning about myself, and how to work with those that do not match up well with me. I learned my colors, what they mean, and who I work best with. the more I learn about others, the better I will be about getting along.

Life changing!
This book radically changed the way I look at people with different personalities (as well as understanding my own!!). Instead of getting annoyed, it has helped me understand and have far more patience. Great for understanding your kids as well as getting along with in laws and co-workers! I have recommended it to many people!

Very Useful Personality Assessment
I have been through "True Colors" personality assessment training, which is a trademarked business. This book mirrors this quadrant of personality styles. It goes more in depth than the personality assessment. Assessing personalities using colors to label them is fun and very useful.

Changed my way of thinking
After reading this book, taking the test, and now living by these colors, it has changed my life. This helps me to understand my children, my spouse, and my co-workers better and to respond to conversation, conflict, and situations in a better way. It also helps me to understand myself better.

Great Book
Bought this book for a friend as a gift so I suspect that is all I can write about it for now.

This book is great. It rings so true
This book is great. It rings so true, people were amazed and baffled that they could be described so vividly by a few short questions. Absolutely brilliant. Thank you.

Simple, easy to understand
Classifying your personality traits according to a designated colour is nothing new, but this simple, easy to read book presents it very nicely. It is unfortunately easy to skew the results of the test if you have a pre-conceived idea of which colour you "should" be, but I guess the author wanted to make it as simplistic as possible. There is quite a bit of information on the personality trends for each individual colour, and a look at how people of from the different colour groups interact with each other. I would have liked to see a lot more about how personalities deviate from the standard designations when they are a blend of two different colours, such as orange-green. While this is touched on briefly, I think it deserved a more in-depth analysis since most people are a blend rather than being, for example, a true-blue.I wouldn't call this book "life-changing" since most of us are already aware of being either emotional or analytical or creative or a natural leader, but worth a read of you are interested in this sort of thing.
