She-Hulk Vol 1: Deconstructed Paperback – July 25, 2017

Great art, great story

Not the same She Hulk as before. Great start to a very different series dealing with something new for Jennifer Walters following some heartbreaking events in her life. This book is something to appreciate more in a longer story of recovery, as long as the story is allowed to carry on and grow. As someone with experience with PTSD, there are some little nuances that are good to see in this medium, and while it is the focus of the story, Jen is in denial that it is as big of deal than it is, so I didn't feel like it was shoved into my face as well.This isn't Slott's She Hulk and it isn't a happy go lucky She Hulk or a smashy one either (though as the cover and what happens between panels would suggest, this is a far more savage take on SH). But the pieces of what makes She-Hulk unique are there, just tainted by tragedy and desperate to avoid that same tragedy in the future. It already looks like there are pieces for the story to progress, and fans of fun She-Hulk will want to see a return. PTSD if written right is not an easy recovery, and I hope that storytelling progresses without stagnating or hand-waiving this new piece of her story.

Funny, thoughtful. Compelling characters and a story worth investing in. At its core, Deconstructed is about living through the tough times and still doing what’s right.

Mariko Tamaki always does unique and wonderful work, and this is no exception. The story is much more character driven, like most of her work. If you just want to see panel after panel of "Hulk smash" then this will probably leave you disappointed, but if you like unconventional character driven narrative superhero stories, and have some patience, this is just the thing for you.Would definitely recommend.

Its not like the fun She-Hulk I'm used to, but, i liked it anyway. The story was interesting and the artwork was good. Follows She-Hulk after the events of Civil War II. While I'm Interested in picking up the rest of the story, somewhere down the line I'd like to see it get back to the more light hearted funny stuff.

Great artwork complements a good narrative about trauma. Comics traditionally kill or near kill heroes only to resurrect them in a few issues. This story follows how this can change a person inside and out, and how the lead character tries to deal with it and adjust.

Good story telling. This was my first time reading about she-hulk. My kids and I liked it and will be reading more.FYI not for real small children I had to change some of the words due to young ears.

Fazia tempo que não lia um gibi tão ruim, impressionante como conseguiram destruir um personagem tão simpático e carismático como a Mulher-Hulk e para piorar os desenhos são péssimos.

This book focused on Jennifer Walters and not the new angrier, grayer She-Hulk. I enjoyed that. It's nowhere near the best I've read, but the quality of recent books seems to be steadily decreasing anyway. It was good enough that I will buy the second book.

Ich mochte dieses Buch sehr. Ich fand es in einigen Punkten enttäuschend.Okay, ich hatte also offenbar gemischte Gefühle.Da ich Marvels CIVIL WARS nicht gelesen habe, dauerte es eine Weile, bis ich begriffen hatte, dass Jen in der Folge der - mir nicht bekannten - Ereignisse traumatisiert und Bruce Banner offenbar gestorben ist. Während manche Erzähler nerviger Weise alles breit treten und x-mal wiederholen, hat mir hier eine kleine Einleitung gefehlt.Dafür entwickelt sich die Geschichte angenehm langsam und man kommt schließlich doch Stück für Stück rein (wenn ich auch immer noch nicht weiß, wie Bruce Banner aka Hulk gestorben ist und warum genau Jen im Koma gelegen hat).Soviel zu den Einstiegsschwierigkeiten.Jen findet nach den zurückliegenden katastrophalen Ereignissen also langsam wieder in den Berufsalltag zurück. Die Darstellung ihrer Persönlichkeit hat mir sehr gut gefallen, die (ehemalige?) Superheldin ist eine verletzte, verletzliche und sympathische junge Frau, die als Anwältin weiterhin Menschen helfen will.Gleich ihr erste Fall erweist sich allerdings als echter Horrortrip, und das in doppeltem Sinne: etwas Unheimliches umgibt Macie Brewn, die dem Tode zu nahe gekommen ist, und die Spannung steigert sich wie in einem guten Horrorroman langsam bis zum Höhepunkt.Und dann ist ja nicht nur Macie dem Tod unsagbar knapp von der sprichwörtlichen Schippe gesprungen, sondern Jen wird dadurch mit ihrer jüngsten Vergangenheit konfrontiert.Ich fand den Spannungsaufbau wirklich super, aber als die Spannung den Höhepunkt erreicht, wird die Story abrupt mit einem Knall beendet und lässt mich als Leser unzufrieden zurück mit der Frage: Was, das war's jetzt schon?Die Artwork hat mir gut gefallen, und falls dieses Team weiter an der Serie arbeitet, werde ich den Folgeband auch lesen, denn Potenzial hat die Reihe auf jeden Fall.
