Decent dehumidifier
Originally I had giving this a decent review. I purchased this in September 2017. Now it's May 2018 and the unit has failed. For a while it would make a loud noise for a minute after turning it on then the noise would go away. Apparently it was slowly going bad. I had it on this past week and I smelled electrical wire burning. I had to unplug it really fast. If I had left it on while I was gone from my house, it likely would have caught on fire and burned my house down. I am thankful to God I was home because this unit became defective and a fire hazard. Do NOT buy this product. It could burn your house down. Now I must see if I can get a refund. I would never buy another one again.

Very efficient, sleek, smart dehumidifier, tells me current humidity level at a glance.
Being that I live on the ocean I am always needing dehumidifiers for my downstairs guest bedrooms especially in the winter when I have rain. I picked this one up because while it is small - about the height of my water pitcher, it still covers a good sf area, it's efficient yet powerful and pulls a good amount of water, it's quiet, sleek looking design, the bucket is pulled out from the back, power button and cord are on the back, and it has the built in feature of telling me the current humidity of the room - I really want to know that. I'm always concerned with my bedding and linens smelling mildewey because I'm not in those rooms (guest rooms) all the time. It's the perfect unit for what I need, and it will save me money compared to running my very large dehumidifier running to accomplish the same thing. Anytime I want to adjust the humidity level for any reason, I just push the arrow up or down and it will do its smart little thing sensor adjustment and either run or stay off until it needs to run.

Two-Week Test
***UPDATE: Seller has provided me a new unit and I am going to test it the same as the first one when it comes in.***I live in a temperate rain forest and depending on the quality of the place I'm renting the humidity can wreak havoc on my belongings. My current bedroom is (rounded up to the nearest foot) 10'x10'x8', or 800 cubic feet, and I have been fighting off mold for a few months. Even with two tubs of Damp Rid in my room and two Damp Rid hanging bags in my closet, the humidity stayed at or above 80%, so I decided it was time to buy a dehumidifier. There seems to be a lot of vague information around dehumidifiers unless you do some serious digging, so I decided to put this particular device up to a two-week test and share my results to help others determine if this is the right device for their needs. Here's how it's set up: I set the machine's humidity control to "45". I recorded both the humidity reading on the machine itself, as well as on a separate humidity sensor I bought at Lowe's Hardware and placed on a bookshelf about a four feet away, each morning upon waking and each evening when going to bed, for 14 days. So this list will read "Machine <morning reading on machine>/<evening reading on machine> Sensor <morning reading on sensor>/<evening reading on sensor>". I wrote down anything I thought was important to note, including when I forgot to mark down a reading. After two weeks, here are my results:Day 1: Machine 74/71 Sensor 79/78Day 2: Machine 75/69 Sensor 82/74Day 3: Machine 75/67 Sensor 79/70 (opened windows)Day 4: Machine 66/60 Sensor 69/(oops!)Day 5: Machine 63/62 Sensor 69/68Day 6: Machine 60/58 Sensor 67/66Day 7: Machine 62/61 Sensor 71/68Day 8: Machine 66/63 Sensor 71/69 (emptied reservoir for first time)Day 9: Machine 50/47 Sensor 59/59 (significantly colder than previous days; closed windows)Day 10: Machine 56/54 Sensor 67/65Day 11: Machine 55/55 Sensor 67/66Day 12: Machine 57/55 Sensor 70/66Day 13: Machine 57/53 Sensor 69/65Day 14: Machine 58 Sensor 69The humidity reading on the sensor at this exact moment, with the dehumidifier having not been used for days and a heater running, is 64%.My impression is that this dehumidifier's effect on my bedroom's humidity was negligible, even though my room seems to technically fall within the specified range posted on this listing ("approx. 1200 cubic feet" at the time of this review). Opening my windows seemed to have a more noticeable impact.Another thing to note, if you do choose to buy this device (I have seen that it's worked for some folks and that's fantastic!) - the manual suggests to turn off the device when disposing the collected water. In my experience, this resets the humidity control. Maybe I did something I didn't notice when taking out the reservoir, but upon turning the machine back on the humidity control was at "55".I mailed this dehumidifier back for a refund. My suggestion to anyone reading this is to do some googling to get an accurate measurement of the size of your room, how many litres of water per day is needed to be pulled out of the air to effectively keep the humidity low, and which style of dehumidifier would work best to keep your room at the humidity level you desire. This information is available. I'm sure this device works for smaller areas; it just didn't work for my room.

Was great for about 2 months
Was great for about 2 months, pulled A LOT of water from the air, impressive little unit... granted we used it in bathroom where there was probably the most moisture generation in our home. After about 2 months of use it S tarted making loud buzzer type noise periodically ...had to unplug/switch it off cause it sounded like it was going to explode.Anyways, ended up trashing it because it was beyond the 30 return period. Shame, we had high hopes. Maybe ours was a one off? Not sure? Wouldn't recommend though.

Not effective for shower dehumidification
Not the best if you're using it for shower dehumidification as I was. My bathroom is about 80 sqft and my shower is about 18 sqft. My shower has been growing mold due to inadequate ventilation. The item description inaccurately states the working humidity range for this unit. After running it for 24 hours, I could never achieve a humidity less than 57%. The starting temperature and humidity immediately after showering were near 80F/80% that it is rated for at it's most effective dehumidification. It took about 3.5 hours for the humidity to work it's way down. I then tried closing the shower door and placing this unit inside the shower to see if that would help it's efficiency. It helped a little but then I had more mold growth the next day because of this.I discovered a much cheaper and more effective solution in the end - using a box fan to rapidly dehumidify my shower before mold had a chance to grow. The box fan achieved the same results as this unit in about a third of the time and eventually achieved 50% humidity around the 3-hour mark which was about what my home's humidity was resting at. Most importantly, all the water along the walls and floor of the shower was entirely dried up after 3 hours.I would highly encourage using a box fan for shower dehumidification after my experience. I think this unit would be more appropriate for humidity issues throughout a space and not confined to a space as was my issue.I also found the option to turn the humidity setting down to 20-30% a bit deceptive. This unit would never achieve this and would never stop running if you set it to this setting (unless you happen to live in a house with already low relative humidity).
