Messenger Bag Retro Buffalo Hunter Leather Laptop Messenger Bag Office Briefcase College 16 INCH by Vintage Couture (Dark Brown) (Brown 1)

I have been looking on and off for a messenger bag that was durable and made of high quality materials and I believe I have found just such a bag in this product. The gingham check interior fabric is a nice touch. It holds my 13" MacBook Air perfectly and it will hold my 15.6" second monitor if I need it to, but that makes everything else a tight fit, which is fine - I just don't foresee myself hauling my entire rig with extra monitor onto a flight (and if I do, it's not like I can set up the second monitor on my neighbor's tray now, can I?).The bag very nicely protects my Mac and holds my noise-canceling bluetooth over-the-ear headphones, a book, charger for the Mac, my bluetooth 10-key and Magic Mouse. with room to spare. This bag makes a perfect briefcase and the latches are so smooth and sturdy, and the leather looks great. I don't know that I could be happier.

I purchased this Messenger Bag as a gift for my husband. He was most impressed with its appearance and the overall workmanship that went into its design. It is a smart looking bag as far as appearance goes. With its Retro design it could be used casually or professionally. My husband was recently promoted at work and this Messenger Bag was the perfect choice of bags for the new pisition. It's plenty big enough for a large laptop as well as room enough for his tablet, chargers, phone, paper work, etc... It can be carried by either the handle, which is very sturdy, or, using the shoulder strap. I read that the bag was a unisex bag, and I'm quite sure it could be, but my own personal opinion leans more towards it representing a Masculine persona. I will be purchasing several more of these Vintage Couture Messenger Bags this year for the rest of the men in my family. I've given it a 5 star as it has surpassed my expectations in design, name i.e. "Buffalo Hunter Leather" (love that!) and price! I Would Highly Recommend This Bag To The Man In Your Life.

First, I really liked the design of this bag; the leather smell, compartments, the whole thing. However, the front latches closing it would come loose when I tried to use this as a briefcase (not shoulder bag). This is because the latch receivers had too-large gap for the clasps to be snug. I liked the bag so much that I thought about hammering the clasp receivers in for tighter clearance, but then common sense got the better of me. I had to return it. Disappointed.

I have to admit I was a little bit skeptical at first, but the bag came this afternoon and I was pleasantly surprised to find thick (for this pricepoint anyway, this isn't shell cordovan or chromexcel) leather, sturdy feeling fittings (the clips lock into place with a smooth and satisfying click), and pretty good stitching and overall craftsmanship.The only real flaw I noticed was that he stiffener they sewed into the front packet stuck out a little bit and caught the zipper a few times, but some judicious cramming and it's not longer a problem.The color is great, ranging from a dark brown on the top flap to a lighter brown almost tan in certain areas. After hitting it with some mink oil I evened out the color variations a bit and now it's close to perfect.Overall this is an amazing value. I get that American companies that sell bags like this need to pay for marketing etc. but they also charge at least four times what I paid for this bag.Just think, some dude in India one day had the foresight to realize that American wannabe hipsters and beatniks actually WANTED imperfections in the leather so they could save a ton of money by not going crazy finding perfect leather and finishing it forever. A win/win for global capitalism!!

Disclaimer: my nails are stained with paint. I’m not dirty.If I could give it zero stars, I would. The day I got this bag, the right buckle snap fell off. I put it back on myself, and decided not to go through the hassle of asking for a refund. I desperately needed a briefcase, and really loved the style of this one. It also came with little scratches up by the handle, but I decided to overlook that because, again, I didn’t want to go through the hassle of a refund. I’ve had this bag now for a few months. As you can see in the picture, the the buckle snap is now completely gone. On the left side, the little leather ring (as pointed out in my pix) is gone on the right buckle. I don’t hate the bag, but I’d like to think for $100 I’d get better craftsmanship. As you can see in the pictures, I don’t carry a lot in the bag, so it’s not like it’s weighted down by what I’m carrying. The only think I’m missing in the pictures, that I normally carry in the bag, is my 15 inch MacBook Air. Now I’m wishing I’d just sucked it up and gone through the refund process. In fact, after submitting this review, I may see if I’m still able to get a refund.

Just got it, so no opinion on durability, but it's so tough I can't imagine it not lasting the rest of my life. Beautiful leather and interior. Update: Color wasn't what I was expecting. It was much lighter. I used Obenauf's Heavy Duty Leather Preservative which gave it a nice dark color. A few more applications, and I think I'll have exactly what I was looking for.Obenauf's Heavy Duty LP 4oz - Preserves and Protects Leather - Made in the USUpdate: Several months later I am still carrying this bag everyday. It has developed a beautiful dark tones and several marks of use, which add to the patina. Seams and hardware are still intact. You will love this bag.

I really like the way this bag looks. It's got great style and is able to be used by a technology professional to convey the entrepreneur spirit. Not everybody has a bag like this. I've gotten many comments on how nice it looks. It conveys individual style but is very functional and well made. I am looking forward to having this bag for many years and can only imagine how great the leather will look as it gets older and softer with use.
