12" Serrated Edge Carbon Steel Spade

Stealthy and almost Lethal.
For some reason the package got messed up and wasn't delivered on time. But I was able to get it in less than 3 days. Upon first look - I thought wow this looks almost lethal. I have never used a Digger Knife before when going detecting. I will have to be careful of the sharp jagged edges, it should work well when cutting solid deep plugs. The black carbon steel looks and feels heavy duty, but i wonder how well it will hold up. The sheath however is wimpy as heck - not sure how long it will last.update: I got to use it on a couple outings and got flak from some of my friends about using this "chinese knock-off" digger knife. It seems to have worked well for me so far, cuts nice clean plug, and the edges cut through some tough ground. I thought the price was excellent. As for the sheath - it's already coming apart at the seam. I am looking at getting a combo leather sheath/pinpointer holder I've seen some of my other buddies use.June update: the digger knife bent today while out on a detecting outing, digging down 8 to 10 inches and i thought what the hell. i was able to mostly bend it back. the sheath still proves extremely troublesome and mine is falling apart and I had to use some duct tape to keep it together.

One solid piece of dirt digging steel
I'm happy I didn't go with the cheaper version of this digger from another vendor and bought the MocDoo. This unit cuts through roots and tough soil like a hot knife through butter.. Even frozen ground doesn't stand much of a chance when you put a little muscle into it. I'm very satisfied and this is 10,000% better than the little garden trowel I was using (I'm new to the metal detecting hobby)For those who are complaining about the sheath being tight when inserting the spade, a little trick I found that works great is to pinch the sides with one hand so the opening is more like an opal shape...the spade goes in with little to no resistance when doing this and it will ensure a long life for the sheath as well.

MocDoo Steel Spade is Great to Use
It is very hard steel; and, probably will last a long time. If you want to sharpen it, you will have a difficult time. Now that the rains have started, it is working wonderful for digging after coins and other MD targets. The sheath however is difficult to use. The sawtooth portions of the blade catch on the sheath material. I don't use the sheath at all, but carry the spade in a leather "builders" pouch I have belted on. Easy to get out and put back in. IMO the spade is very much worth the price. -

Nice and easy to use.
Serious spade that comes in very handy for metal detecting. It is a bit heavier than I imagined but that makes it very sturdy. I can't really use the holder it comes with however because the jagged parts make it hard to take in and out. Otherwise it gets the job done.

Great so far for the price.
I use this metal de ting and it looks just like some of the other more expensive. I used this recently on a trip to the river and used it digging and prying our some larger rocks; no problems at all or fails. I really like the tool and recommend it

Only lasted a year...
Only lasted a year of occasional use. Disappointed. I dug a 'U' shaped plug and when I used the digger to flip the plug (using only moderate pressure) it snapped. That's what I get for buying a no name digger. Good thing I had my Deteknix Diamond digger with me as a back up....lesson learned.

Metal detecting tool
If you MUST cut a plug, at least keep it neat. This does, and it does it well. Cuts through grass roots like butter. Just cut 3 sides and fold back the plug, recover your target and replace the flap. I only use this on deeper targets, as I prefer the Probe and Clamp ( hemostat) method.

Literally has paid for itself in coins.
Good alternative to the overpriced name brands. It digs a hole. In gravel. And frozen tundra. And regular dirt with lots of roots. It'll make a precision hole for digging plugs in parks and putting them back the way you found them.
