I generally don't write product reviews, however, am compelled to submit that the Koldfront in-the-wallair conditioner was delivered three days prior to scheduled promised delivery date: more importantly, the packaging was right on and with clear instructions on installation, coupled with plenty of materialfoam to seal all outstanding exposer. I was pleasantly surprise how quiet, and efficient cooling system, along with a very-slim and simple to operate remote control.

Easy to install, but double check that you have the right outlet for it!
I installed this AC in my pre-existing sleeve, and it was very simple. However, I didn't find the instruction booklet until after I had installed it because they're kind of hidden in the packaging. Make sure you look all over for the instructions. Also, please note that the power saver mode makes a HUGE difference in how cold the air it blows is. With power saver on it often just feels like the unit is blowing regular air. Power saver defaults to on when you plug it in for the first time.A couple things to note--you must ground this unit to the sleeve. Two screws and a grounding wire are provided, but I had to drill a hole in the metal sleeve to create a spot for the grounding wire. I'm not sure how necessary it is, but we have a lot of lightning where I live so I don't want to find out the hard way. Secondly, this unit must have a slight upward tilt. I did this by using one of the long, skinny, blue foam blocks that came with the unit and placing it under the middle of the unit in the front, directly behind the black insulation foam. Works like a charm, but the tilt causes the AC's decorative frame to not fit snugly to the wall. Lastly, be very careful when you're putting the frame together, because it's not designed to come apart again. I recommend looking up a tutorial video if you can't find the instruction booklet.I'll update the review if anything changes.

Dependable Cooling
This is the second Koldfront I have owned. This one cools my train room for a little over two years. It was a simple replacement. It lasted twice as long as the LG I had previously. I am very satisfied with it.

So far, excellent
This a/c fit easily into the sleeve installed in the window in my subsidized housing apartment. Fellow tenant installed it with no problems. Cools my whole small apartment almost too well! For those complaining about unit going off and on, read the user manual -- you have to turn the energy saver button off every time the machine is turned off and back on. Do that, and it runs continuously. (I keep it on auto setting, and that works great.) Some complain about a smell, but I have nothing like that. Nor do I find it especially loud. The one thing I can't review is longevity -- I've only had it for 5 weeks. Hopefully will get years out of it. Minor complaint is that the buttons on the machine are hard to read, lettering very small for my aging eyes. Packaging was very good.[a year later: still no smell, no horrible noise. operates fine this second season since purchase.]

Exactly What I Was Looking For
I bought this unit as a proper replacement for a window air conditioner that was improperly installed with tape and foam in the pre-instaled sleeve in my room. This air conditioner fit perfectly and works great! My remote did not work out of the box (yes, i removed the plastic tab), but I will buy a new battery before I call it a complete loss. This unit rapidly cools off my room. It is not the quietest, but my room is small, so I am always very close to it. I bought an 8K BTU unit and it provides more than enough cooling for my small room. It works so well, I was able to leave my room door open and use a fan to blow cool air into the rest of the apartment until we purchased a 12K BTU unit for the living room.It weighs about 60 pounds, so you may need help carrying it up stairs and installing it, but I was able to do it by myself. The plug fits into a standard 3 prong (grounded) outlet and I made sure I bought a 115 V unit to ensure I was not constantly tripping a circuit during the summer. In conclusion, I like this unit and I think it works very well. It seems like there is a price premium added to Through The Wall units, but if you’re in a home that already has the sleeve permanently installed in your wall get a Through The Wall unit and consider this air conditioner. Be sure to measure your sleeve first, and check that your nearest outlet can handle the voltage of which ever unit you decide to get.

Got More Than I Expected 🙂
This is an awesome unit fir the price folks. I was pleased it came a day early. The thing is a monster, I was able to get the unit into the sleeve at shoulder height yet strongly recommend getting an extra hand. The unit came with a bezel that fit my sleeve nicely, a grille, adhesive foam seals and even bracing for inside the sleeve. I may go back later to put some of that material in as the unit can be a bit loud. But all said, the unit does the job. My apartment is two bedroom around 735 square foot and it will cool off in under a hour. Now mind you it's barely 80 out so we will see. But all in all if you have a large space i recommend this unit.
