They Don't Get Any Better
With a price just north of $40 I was a little hesitant in making my purchase but now with it in the rear view mirror I have to say I am incredibly happy with my 22.5" 304 SS cooking grate!!! I live in the Pacific Northwest where we average 80 inches of rain each year and rust is an ongoing issue especially for grills that feature plated steel grates such as Weber. In my experience the Weber OEM grates last about 2 years at best when rust becomes a serious issue (at least for me as I don't care for rust on my food). This replacement grate from Kettle Kommander is top notch quality all the way around; very well constructed with strong welds made from heavy 304 SS (18-8) the same grade used for quality silverware as well as most other food handling equipment applications. Rust resistant cleans up easily and is very strong easily supporting the heaviest cuts of meat. I will undoubtedly buy replacement Weber Charcoal Grills in years to come BUT this is the last cooking grate I will ever buy... PLUS Kettle Kommander backs their product with a free replacement guarantee!!!NOTE:I beg to differ with the manufacturer's product description as well as other reviewers BUT 304 SS is "mildly magnetic". I was a purchasing agent for a large machine shop for many years and the slight magnetic quality of 304 SS was often an important consideration in many of the shop's fabrications. So yes you will likely notice a small amount of response to the "magnet test"."304 stainless steel contains chromium (min. 18%), and nickel (min. 8%). It is an austenite steel and is only slightly responsive to magnetic fields. It also contains 18 – 20% chromium and 8-10.50% nickel, and lesser quantities of some other elements."

Much better than the original equipment.
Excellent upgrade to the original Weber grate, which rusted out in no time.1. Passes the magnet test for 3xx stainless (consistent with 304 as advertised.)2. Fits perfectly in 22" Weber grill.3. Good sturdy gauge.4. Flaps open and close with no binding at all. I love the flaps because they make it easy to tend the fuel without disturbing the food. I usually set up the charcoal at one end and the food at the other for indirect cooking. So one flap can easily be oriented above the charcoal for all maintenance (smoking wood, knocking down ashes, rearranging charcoal, adding more fuel, etc.) Be advised that the hinge action does allow some sliding along the hinge axis, and if you get it too close to either end of travel the flap won't quite be oriented properly to open/close. But once you know this it's easy to slide the hinge toward the middle of the range of motion where it opens and closes easily. This is a nice product.

Excellent replacement for the plated OEM grill.
The metal is a higher gage than the original and it's actual stainless steel. Some other reviews have mentioned the side flaps not laying flat. This isn't an issue on mine. These end pieces have some lateral movement and if slid to the side won't close and lie flat. I simply slid them to the middle and they are fine.I have to say looking at how corroded and nasty my original grill looked after less than a year of use made me wonder why these aren't standard from the beginning.

Fails the magnet test
Expensive but bought it cuz i was tired of cleaning the rust grates. But very disappointed by failing the magnet test. My magnet sticks on 6 out of 33 inner grids.

Not stainless steel
Definitely does not pass the magnet test for stainless steel. I confirmed on some stainless steel items in my house that the magnet in fact does not stick to them.Found the Weber packaging in the box, is oem stainless steel plated at a premium price.
