I read all four of this author’s books and they were mediocre at best. The dialogue was not realistic during many of the situations. The main character, “Poppy” was a wildlife officer that should have been fired for insubordination. The author also used the word, “ahold”, many times. For me this was annoying because I don’t think there is such a word as “ahold”. The plots were average. It was easy to put down these books. I don't think I would read any more of this author's books

A great read
'Operation Tropical Affair' completely blew me away. I don't know how I missed little gem. I am pleased that I found it though. The story line was amazing. I laughed a lot. The humor drew me in, but it's not just a humorous book. It's full of action, great characters, thrilling scenarios and hilarious dialogue. Once I started reading I knew I had to finish it. Poppy is an awesome lead. She's witty, funny as hell and isn't afraid to step in to back her beliefs. Dalton was kinda frustrating at first. He's sexy, a great agent and has his hands full when dealing with Poppy. She sure kept him on his toes. I can't wait to read the next book. A great add to your tbr list. Recommended read.

No stars
Gratuitous animal abuse, coupled with indiscriminate sex for both the female and male main characters is really a "no stars" book Do not recommend

Operation Tropical Affair
Dear me, what a ride. When I read the name Poppy McVie I expected something sugar sweet and inane. Just imagine my surprise when this novel turned into a fast paced tour de force through the exotic animal world and the people who sacrifice them to feed their greed. I learned a lot more about Costa Rica than I knew and I can hardly wait to read another Poppy McVie adventure. You won't want to put Operation tropical Affair downReviewed by Heide Katros,Winter Haven News.FL

I bought it because I was going to Costa Rica and thought it would be fun..
Reading this book makes me question Amazon's rating system. The writing is very amateurish and the plot disjointed. How can this be rated so highly? I bought it because I was going to Costa Rica and thought it would be fun...but after several pages of being bored, I moved on to a much better book.

No Robert Ludlum
This book reads like it was written by a teenager. To wit: The protagonist (Poppy), describes her Federal Agent co-worker as "yummy," and, in numerous instances, struggles to resist his and others' manly animal magnetism. In fact, this woman is so horny, it's amazing that she gets any work done at all! The action and plot are disjointed, and the characters are poorly developed. Yes, I agree that the trade in exotic animals is illegal and immoral, but I'd prefer to read a book with more gravitas regarding the issue. In my opinion, this is a "romance novel" masquerading as a mystery novel. I won't be purchasing/reading any more in this series!

Excitement, Adventure, Romance
Awesome book! The suspense built from the first chapter and continued right through to the end. Poppy McVie was a very believable heroine, having great fighting skills, while making some judgement errors, and ultimately using her own creativity to solve problems. I thoroughly enjoyed the story and I read it straight through at one sitting. I definitely will be reading more of Poppy's adventures and urge anyone who loves a good story, a lot of action, and just the right amount of romance to immediately get reading! I am sure Poppy McVie will have enough to keep you interested.

Operation tropical affair
This book is the first in the series about environmental protection and lawbreakers. I actually read another one first so I was interested to see how Poppy the protagonist got started. The tale consists of three stories. There's the story of an ongoing undercover effort to follow the chain of smugglers of endangered wild animals from lush, tropical Costa Rica. There's the story of a small group of activists meeting informally on a beach to take direct action. And there's the story of Poppy herself who walks in and proceeds to lie to everyone in sight, including her new assigned work partner, ignore orders, endanger lives and do her own thing with disregard for anyone else.Poppy's heart is definitely in the right place, but she's so stricken by the plight of a handful of capuchin monkeys, among other creatures, that she throws away the months of work to try to find the kingpin and shut down the massive sales for good. She's supposed to be the spoiled trophy wife of the other detective, but can't stick with her cover persona and heads straight for a butterfly centre, a remote hiking trail and showing off that there is actually a bit of brain under the glamour. All this may be understandable but makes her an erratic, undependable detective for undercover work, and we can sympathise with her partner, whose life as well as career is at stake along with the mission.I'll leave you to discover the outcome, and even those who are not that interested in thrillers will have fun exploring the beautiful island and learning about the deadly, commercial trade in endangered wildlife. The book is carefully produced to a high standard on Kindle. This is an unbiased review.

Superficial and disappointing.
I bought this book because Amazon recommended it as being similar to the Stephanie Plum series. It is not anything at all like the Stephanie Plum series. It was mediocre with a fast-paced superficial storyline, but quite dark and depressing. The killing of Clyde felt unnecessary and completely non-plot driven. That's where my one star comes from. The author was trying for a shock factor and that's just lazy writing. The characters didn't feel very real, there was no depth or background that gave me any sort of emotional involvement. I felt more for Clyde than any of the humans. A lot of the story was left unexplained - who they really were and what they were doing there and what the point of it all was. Maybe if you're North American all this stuff is a given, but I doubt it. I only stuck around 'til the end because I was hoping for explanations. I was left wondering what I'd read. The best part of the book was the anti-trafficking stance, although it ended with the North American authorities carrying on the animal trafficking to supposedly catch animal traffickers - seriously?? Is that supposed to be a good thing??? That's just sad. Lets sell drugs to kids to try and catch drug dealers next... no? The wastage is okay when it's a non-human animal? This world is nuts.

Think wild animals and habit should be protected?
This entire series is so realistic, and takes you to where the action is... I gave up hours of sleep to finish this one.
