Blades are very sharp
The blades sliced the guides off almost immediately. Not as sturdy as my pampered chef madoline. Will be replacing this right away

Great mandoline! I use these for slicing tomatoes and cucumbers for sandwiches and it cuts through them like butter. Many blade choices and easy to clean and store - most of the time just needs a quick rinse since the plastic is very slick and doesn't seem to hold stains or juices (+1 bonus point).My only complaint is that I wish the blade storage container had extra room for one more blade so I could store this without keeping a blade installed. You risk a cut if someone reaches into the cabinet without looking.

Has the same disadvantage as all madelines--waste
This mandeline functions in the same way as its competitors and has the same drawback: you can't julienne, or grate, or whatever, an entire item. The problem is the finger guard, which has prongs on which the item you want to cut or grate or whatever is impaled. These prongs are so long as to prevent your treating the entire vegetable, or whatever--there will always be a considerable amount of material that just can't get to the blade that is wasted, or which you will have to cute or grate by other means. The alternative to using the finger guard is to hold the vegetable, etc., by hand. That allows you to treat much more of the vegetable, but that process comes with a risk of injury. If you're going to have to use a knife or another grater anyway, why bother with this?

Easy to use with a high quality material!
This slicer is very good quality. It makes slicing and grating a dream. But remember to use the green guard to protect from getting any cut.
