Simple, perfect, but costly
This works exactly as described, and solves the problem of holding the Helmet either for storage, or to work on.Not 5-Star because it is quite expensive for a simple piece of molded plastic.But it works fine; no alternatives I could find.

The helmet ring is very useful when doing work on your helmet, like installing helmet speakers. It also makes a nice place to store the helmet.
