You'll get used to the sizzling sound.
I've only had the iron for a couple of days, but so far I like it a lot. I thought the iron was supposed to release it's own steam, so I was confused when I couldn't find the water tank, but instead it works with the moisture from your wet hair.My hair is naturally blonde, and color treated. I bought the iron for it's curling features, and it did just fine on my short pixie cut hair. It's got lots of volume, and is staying right where I put it - no funky flip-ups :) If I squeezed the iron closed too tightly I did have a hair or two catch, but it was still better than my old iron, and can probably be avoided with a little practice. The iron makes a sizzling sound when used on wet hair, which is a bit off-putting at first, but you get used to it pretty quick. It's from the hair drying and releasing it's steam. After some research, it seems all wet-to-dry irons (even the $100 ones) will sizzle as well, so it's not uncommon and is non-damaging.The cord on this thing is supper loooong! Probably 10 - 12 feet! But that's okay, because it's got a nice lil bag to keep the iron and cord safe and tidy. The cord could reach everywhere in my master bathroom, no problems. Seems well made, and I am happy with my purchase.

Love love this straighner
Love love this straighner. I have short to medium hair, and it is very thick and coarse and it usually takes at least a good 10 minutes or more to just blow dry it then another 5 minutes to straighten it. I got my Ion hair straighter today, and I blew it dry until it was damp then I straighten it. It took me about half the time to do my hair. Also I have static in my hair, anyway after I finished fixing my hair it was very soft it made my hair looked like the professionals did it. Sorry I just can't say enough about it. I would highly recommend it.It was the best 40 dollars that I ever spent.

Works great on wet hair or dry hair
Works great on wet hair or dry hair. It works in less time if your hair is towel-dried well. The only negative I have found with using it is that once in a while a hair will get caught under the corner edge of one of the metal parts. I like the heat-proof bag for it.

Not as good as I thought
This straightener is OK. I have used it on my damp hair and it doesn't work as well as other reviews say. I just use it when my hair is dry now. I usually have to go through the same area 3-4 times just to get my hair even. Btw, I have straight fine hair too; I can't imagine this to work on someone with super curly or thick hair.

Not for African Americans
I'm an African American and that means really course hair. I dont think this is made for that kind of hair. It's like the heat is too low

Nope - casing gets caught on hair
I want to like this because it's dual-voltage (and I forgot to return it in time to get my money back, so I'm stuck with it) but it gets caught on my hair, so it's now an ineffective doorstop.

During the first use it was great. by the third and fourth use of this iron it stopped transferring heat into my hair. Would leave my hair frizzy.

It took at least 30 minutes out of the normal time it would take to make my hair straight!! I would recommend this to everyone!!
