Terrific guy - but a love triangle and a girl that was just too frustrating
Beware - slight spoilers - A love triangle - I hate love triangles - The author writes a perfect guy in this one but the girl is just too frustrating - leading him on while refusing to end things with her boyfriend. She actually says, "I'm not a cheater" right after she cheats with him. While it focuses mainly on the two main characters the 2nd guy is not written in a bad enough light to really make you dislike him enough and is seriously jerked around by the couple. It just really takes away from being excited about their relationship. Wish the main guy was in a different story but I just wasn't that excited when he gets the girl because she took forever to break up with her boyfriend while leading him on.

This was just NO ....for me
Let me begin that I love Vi Keeland. I love her books. It's a one click buy for me all the time. This title was in my library for a long time. I decided to read all other titles before this one plus some other ones from my other favorite authors, till I finally decided to read Throb and Beat. I loved Throb and so I thought this book which was continuation of Flynn's story was going to be just as good if not better. So Vi's writing is always flawless. This story begins well....and the characters are very likeable until about 30% mark. The main female role is a girlfriend of a famous rock star and also the object of Flynn's love affection. But she is so flip-floppy and so confused and when the story becomes this ugly love triangle it becomes really hard to read at least for me. I can't stand the cheating without any reason other than being un-decided. At one point the main heroine goes from being fondled by her want to be lover to being summoned to bed by her rightfully so jealous boyfriend only to be very puppy like and say...ok... and at that point any respect for Flynn goes out the window.... I get it ...it is a fiction story, but for me I like strong alpha characters not man who goes after someone else's girlfriend....That was just hard no for me. So to sum it up. The story is ok but not for me. Don't care for female characters who are undecided and very flip floppy.

Over 5 Stars
After reading about Flynn in Vi Keeland's reality themed novel Throb, I just knew I wanted to see what a book would be like that focused solely on his life, his romance and his career. I was not disappointed; Beat might be one of the best books I've read so far this year! This book concentrates on the relationship between Flynn, Lucky and Dylan Ryder, the person standing between them literally and figuratively. Dylan is Lucky's current boyfriend, and the headliner on the tour Flynn is about to start. Not a very auspicious beginning, to say the least. This gives Beat all of the elements one could wish for in a great romance: jealousy, indecision and angst on the part of the main characters, coupled with great tenderness and an excess of feeling. In addition, Ms. Keeland is the queen of meaningful dialogue, gifting her characters with hip, relevant words that never seemed to be forced, or trite. Everything just seemed to seamlessly flow from page to page. It was such an enjoyable book that I found myself rereading it again, and again. Needless to say, I recommend everyone read Beat at least once to judge this truth for themselves.

Vi Keeland writes much better books WITHOUT Penelope Ward. . .
I loved this story! Well done, with minimal errors, and an interesting dilemma that mutated into a destined, fated drama. It was great! The battle of the 35-year-old rock star slipping in sales, trying to shut down a 20-something-year-old upcoming, drool-worthy, gorgeously talented, and laidback Flynn Beckett. In Throb, I ached.for Flynn, who truly is a lovely, big-hearted man, when Kate didn't end up with him. But, his life turned him toward the right path when he ends up at Lucky's bar to meet Dylan, who Flynn doesn't find out til later is Lucky's boyfriend. From the start, Dylan hates Flynn, although his reasons for his antagonism are more jealousy related. He hates Flynn's looks, sex appeal, talent (that rivals Dylan's, though with a different flair). Then there's Lucky, whom Flynn has fallen hard for, yet seems to be frozen in limbo with Dylan. What I didn't understand was why no one didn't just tell Lucky about Dylan's porn star in Vegas. She would have dumped Dylan in a heartbeat for Flynn - instead, she thought SHE was the worm. Such a hypocrite, that misogynistic, overly jealous older rockstar! Anyway, I was captured by Lucky's open beauty, and Flynn's effortless, naturally captivating charms coming together in alignment. Perfect five star read!

Knocked out!
I wasn't sure I wanted to read this at 1st because of the potential for major angst factor that looked to be waiting for me. The torn between two men idea from the blurb looked combustible but I was wrong. After reading it and LOVING this book from front to back, I'll say it was well done, glad I took a chance on it because rockstar romance is my reading crack and so hard for me to resist! Some might say that the h, Lucky, let her lines 'blur' alittle too much in her decade of hero worship feelings for the man she has finally been in a relationship with this past year, Dylan, while constantly thinking about someone new. The someone new, Flynn, would be really difficult for any woman with eyes and a pulse to look away from but Lucky is trying to keep it in the friend zone. Problem- Flynn, new..he doesn't want to be pushed away or forgotten. But he is respectful, mostly but isn't shy about TELLING her how he's feeling. So when Lucky ends up on the tour bus with both old flame and new friend, what's gonna happen? Revelations, remorse, romance, retaliation??? Read it and find out why Lucky's choice is so hard to make.I have been digging around in my kindle lately trying to read some books I downloaded and haven't had the pleasure of getting into yet, this was one I'm glad I found there. Vi Keeland sure knows how to write sexy, passionate men and sassy independent ladies. I love that her H's are downright swoonyworthy, each one is unforgettable and her h's are not simpering wimps, but strong equals who are not afraid to be themselves. Gotta say I loved this one.

Just loved this.
Vi keelend never fails. I loved it from beginning to end and cried at the epilogue. I wished there was more sex in it but was happy overall. Loved Flynn. What a good guy. I can’t stand alphas because REAL women if they’re totally honest, would never put up with such treatment. But Flynn was a class of his own. Hot sweet and still a gentleman. Even though there is cheating in this book, Which some will not like but need to get over, I still rooted for the leads.I urge everyone to read this novel.

Loved This Book
I've read a few books by Vi, and have yet to full s one I didn't get I to straight away, and this one is no different. Lucky is a voice coach who co owns a bar called "Lucky's" with her best friend Avery. One night she spots Flynn, an Absoutely gorgeous looking guy at the end of the bar who doesn't take his eyes off her. When he asks her out, she passes it off, as unknown to him she's actually dating Dylan who is a complete egotistical jerk and the lead singer of a famous band Flynn will be supporting soon. Things get really hot when she joins Dylan for part of the tour, as neither Lucky or Flynn can keep their hands off each other. Do read this book, you will love it.

Good read
Good story, it could have been great but alas the message was received. The author could have done a better job at making us the readers understand Dylan Ryder more in order to get a clearer picture as to why Lucky didn't or couldn't love and settle for him. The case was poorly constructed. Everyone knew he was a man whore but he loved her. Fynn loved her too and I guess she was incredibly lucky her choice worked out in the end. This book had sooooo much scope but like I said the author failed to build on it. I'm still happy to give it a generous 4*.

Good example of the genre - thoroughly enjoyable
So glad I read this book as I thoroughly enjoyed it. Have been waiting for a while (since Chloe Walsh's latest) to find a book that kept me reading until the small hours, and this was it. Really good example of the genre providing strong characters, amusing dialogue and a hot sexy rocker. Some might find the fact cheating is involved off putting, but you shouldn't as Ms Keeland handles it extremely well - plus Dylan is d*ck anyway. Glad it was a standalone despite loving it as this genre of a series is often like flogging a dead horse. Definitely recommend.

This is a re-read!
Decided to read this again after finishing Throb. I thought Flynn was adorable in Throb I wanted to see if he matched imperfection in Beat. Oh my! Does he! Highly highly recommended!
