R18 UV Light Air Purifier HVAC In Duct House AC Allergy Germicidal PCO filter

Great addition to portable filtration system.

While I am unsure of the effectiveness of the catalyst portion of this unit, I can say that the UV aspect of the system definitely works. I installed one of these units in my newer hvac system about a year ago due to a foul mildew odor developing in the system on days when the a/c system wasn't very active. The odor stopped immediately and the air in the house seemed to smell cleaner and less musty than before the hvac unit was replaced. After a year of use the bulb was no longer effectively producing UV light and the odors returned every time the a/c turned on. I replaced the bulb and sure enough the odors went away again. I would definitely recommend this product. It works well and the price is right.

It seems to work effectively. I already tried a lot of different filters, including electrostatic on the main furnace, and I also had a UV light on the ducts but the benefits seemed to be difficult to assess.It seems this combination of honeycomb Aluminum filter and UV light is apparently improving the air quality in terms of decreased odors and allergens. I mainly notice a difference in the quality of my sleep, leaving the furnace fan 24h on.I might come back on this comment, should I notice a decrease of effectiveness with the time but for the time being I'm quite satisfied.My only interrogation would the stability of the aluminium metal structure with the time and condition (UV light, heat, cool...) as there is a lot of literature that tends to associate aluminium in the environment and neurodegenerative illnesses such as Alzheimer's disease (AD), amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), and Parkinsonism dementia [...]. If this honeycomb aluminium resists in such an environment, all should be fine but it remains to be proven and I shall check on regular basis for any sign of alteration. Meanwhile, this system works better than whatever I tried before and I sleep better....

This seller was great. The UV light was damaged when it arrived. No fault of theirs, because it was packed wonderfully. I'm not sure if it was damaged before packing, or if I did something to it that I was unaware of. Either way, I emailed the company and they had a new light out in a few days, which is amazing considering we are in the middle of a pandemic! It was easy to install, with the exception of cutting a SQUARE hole in my HVAC metal duct. If I would've had sharper sheet metal snippers it might not have been such a pain in the tuchus. So I would definitely recommend having sharp metal snips if you are installing into metal. My dull snips ended up bending and I had to throw them out and move on to the next idea. I used my dewalt drill to drill some small holes in the edges and just tried to bend them away. Because I didn't have the ability to really cut the edges of the metal cleanly I improvised and put some black padded insulation tape around the edges (usually used to insulate cold or hot water lines).This worked well because it allowed me to get a good seal which wasn't possible because of my rough edges not being able to be cut. All in all, it was a breeze after I figured out a way to avoid having to buy a new pair of sheet metal cutters (which I would've done had this instillation not been in the middle of a pandemic). Literally took less than 5 minutes after getting the square hole cut.
