Maybe this could save my life...
I have no sense of smell. The other day my housekeeper cleaned the stove and accidentally turned the dial so that gas was coming from one of the burners and I didn't know it, as I didn't smell the gas. Apparently she bypassed the pilot and just turned it full on w/o lighting the burner. I started getting a headache and went into the kitchen to get something to drink so I could take some aspirin. I heard a hissing and realized the burner was going but no flame... and had been for several hours! That could have been a really grim outcome. I immediately researched alarms for "combustible natural gas" and this one was well rated so I ordered it.It's very easy to set up, it's not horrible looking and the alarm is VERY easy to hear should I ever have a gas leak. I'll have to assume it works should it detect gas but I'm not going to test it and hope I never do.

Great with voice warning and numeric indicator of level of gas
This is great because it doesn’t just indicate a problem, but quantifies it. It scared me when we had a power outage and it clicked back on and yelled at me, but that is a good thing since it wakes you right up. I prefer the voice to a high pitched squeal (so does my dog, but he wants to get the person out of it!)

Simple and works as described.
I tested the gas detector immediately after I opened it using my gas cooktop in the kitchen. The alarm worked as expected. Fairly loud and sounded right away. The only downside to this product is the chinglish instructions. It’s super easy to mount. I was able to mount it in literally less than two minutes and it’s ready to go. At this point I am very satisfied with this purchase. Just hope I never have to use it.

Excellent safety item
My daughter lost her sense of smell due to surgery. She has a gas stove and a gas dryer, so I bought two for her and one for ourselves. It does not alert to a very minor amount of natural gas, but it speaks loudly when it sensor reaches 5 - 7 or thereabouts. I would highly recommend this product for the elderly who are inclined to forget they turned on the gas stove for instance, or for people like my daughter who cannot smell anything.

Seems to work well
We bought this after one of the burner knobs on our gas range got bumped or something and had gas coming out without being ignited. We sleep upstairs and in the morning, we could smell the propane all the way up in our bedroom. Scary moment. After turning off anything that could possibly make a spark and opening all the doors and windows to air the house out, I ordered one of these up immediately. We have not had any kind of a leak since we've had it, but I can tell you this much - it's loud enough that you won't sleep through the alarm if you do get one. The one annoying thing about it is that every time the power goes out, (somewhat frequently where we live), it goes through a very loud reset and test process when the power comes back on. A small price to pay for peace of mind, obviously. I tested it by turning on a burner with no ignition since there was nowhere to mount it in the recommended range in a low area near the floor. It works fine stuck to the frig a couple feet from the stove.

Tested and seemes to work.
Well seemes ok. It sounded funny when it talks but tested with propane and butane and alarm went off. Had to change it to English I about did laughing when it spoke Chinese.

Safety you can't ignore :)
It's my first time with a gas stove, and I have to admit it's both awesome and a little stressful as Mr 4 yr old is big enough to try to "help" us with the stove top. I bought this to help warn us if he plays with the stove and / or if I accidentally loosen a gas line as I do projects around the house.This detector comes in a nice little package with everything described. When you plug it in it gives you a sample of how loud it's going to be by telling you that it's going to warm up and then again after a minute or two when it claims it's ready - that gave one of my friends a scare as he arrived after I plugged it in and he was in the kitchen.I feel a lot safer having this device in my house, especially since I'm an avid DIY'er with 3 young children.

Mount it correctly!
This product appears under different names, and may come with different options. Be sure to install it according to the instructions, based on the type of combustible gas you use: Mount it high for natural gas (methane). Mount it low for propane or butane.
