This necklace is made with a genuine Israeli Judaica vintage coin from the first series that was minted at the end of the year 1950, 2 years after the state of Israel was established. The main theme on the observed side is an amphora which was used to carry wine in the days of Jesus. The origin of this motif is an ancient coin from the days of Bar-Kochba (132 - 135 C.E.). The artists who designed the observed side are Rothschild and Lippman, according to stone carving found in an ancient synagogue in Capernaum. The reverse side was designed by the Shamir Brothers. This coin ceased to be legal tender in 1980. The coin is from my private collection and was mounted on the necklace by hand. This coin has been used by regular people in those days to buy things for their daily life. That means that the coin carries human stories and history, but will keep silence forever
