Comes with batteries but can also be powered by a USB type C connector (not included). Sensitive IR detector. Includes a small remote. One button arms it, one disarms it, one switches between chime and alarm. The unit itself has three buttons--volume (loud/soft), on/off, and chime/siren. The siren in loud is very, very loud. Car alarm loud. The problem is that the sirent does not reset after a decent interval. Once the alarm is triggered you have to turn it off manually. That could be a problem with neighbors when you are gone. I'm using it to try and keep raccoons out of the tack room. I think the loud chime (which is once per event) will be enough to do that. Again, well made, sensitive, loud. I plan to buy a few more.
