This recorder packs quite a punch! I buy budget recording equipment all the time, but until now I have always needed to use my phone to record interviews and ambient noise for my YouTube channel. Well, all it takes is one dead battery right before an interview to teach me my lesson. I needed a voice recorder and I needed one now. The biggest hurdle for me was cost and convenience. I needed something that I had a price point that was consumer friendly (Translation: Cheap) and convenient...meaning it has to easily be transferred to my computer.This product did all I needed in spades. The quality of the recording is awesome! The VOR mode actually worked except when the voices are too similar, and playback sounded really good. And at the end of the day, these are the biggest promises a recorder needs to deliver on and it definitely does.There are a couple of drawbacks. The first is that it lacks any audio inputs so you can't partner it up with a lapel mic. Second, the menu isn't as intuitive as I'd like and lastly and the worst offender is that, often times I had to change the file extension from .WAVA to .WAV in order to import it into my software which was a big nuisance.For what I paid for my recorder I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

I purchased this for lectures at college. I tested it out at home and it works fine. You can replay the voice recordings with headphones plugged in which is cool. Its very easy to figure out. Just play with the buttons when you first get it and you'll figure it out within a few minutes. It comes with a charging cord (with no brick, just the cord), an instruction manual, and a little card telling you about customer satisfaction.The only things i didnt like are purely cosmetic. The buttons are a little rough from manufacturing and the plastic they used to make the housing for the microphones are tacky looking. Lastly, the screen lighting is front lit. The light is concentrated at the bottom of the screen and is pointed upwards to light the entire screen. Its not horrible but its not great. Other than that its got some weight to it so it feels good in the hand. I like that the body of it is made of some kind of metal. The speaker is quite loud too!All in all 9/10.

I ordered this product to use for college lectures. I tested it for about 2 hours at home and left the recorder on in my kitchen to see what kind of sounds it would record and from how far. From the default recording settings, it was able to pick up just about every sound from about a 20 foot radius very clearly. Noise that came from further was also picked up, but hard to hear because of all the other sounds that were recorded from a closer proximity. Considering the classroom is much quieter, the sounds that are recorded are much cleaner and more crisp without all the background noise. I haven't had to charge it yet after receiving it because it came fully charged. Current recording time memory is about 12 hours depending on recording quality. I will be testing lower quality recording to see if there is a big difference in the sound that is picked up if I need more memory space. The buttons are solid and the casing of the recorder is very tough. It's metal, so it might feel a bit heavy, but I would prefer that over plastic that could crack if accidentally dropped. The settings inside were easy to navigate and the screen is clear and comes with a backlight for use in low light settings. The only thing I wish this had would be a "lock switch" of some sort to keep the buttons from working while I have it recording. Everything else about this product is great and definitely worth the purchase!

I purchased this tape recorder to use for lectures in college. I received it in a very timely manner, within 2 days, and was very impressed. It comes in a small, nicely padded box with a USB cable, an instruction manual, and a small card from Yemenren thanking you for your purchase. It is smaller than a cell phone but is a bit heavier. It is very compact and fits well in a pocket or in a backpack pouch. Even while in a pocket or pouch it recorded my lectures. It picked up the sound from all around my classrooms very clearly, though with a bit of background noise. It is also very easy to use. After a day of use, however, the tape recorder would not turn on. I tried charging it and attached it to my computer and had no luck. So I contacted Yemenren for help. They have some of the best customer service I have experienced (by email). They suggested several things to try. I was able to eventually get my files onto my computer, but still had issues with the recorder turning on. The backlight would turn on, but there was no text or anything to read on the display, so I couldn't see if anything was recording or if I was scrolling through my already recorded files, and when I tried plugging it into my computer, the device wasn't able to be found. I contacted them again and they replaced my recorder very quickly and did everything they could to help me. I didn't even have to return the old device. The new recorder came in just 2 days as well and all seems to be working wonderfully now!

It doesn't save audio files as WAV or MP3 -- it saves them as WAVÁ or MP3Á. I have to change the file extension if I want to play the sound file back on any device other than the recorder itself. A weird, tedious glitch.As others have mentioned, the instructions are confusing and changing settings is not always intuitive (I remember having to use the volume button to change selections at one point).No way to minimize background noise with a microphone, because there is no input for a microphone. I wish I had thought to check that before purchasing. Whoops!It does work, and was reliable for the time I used it (nearly a year). I eventually upgraded to the "Sony ICDUX560BLK Stereo Digital Voice Recorder with Built-in USB," which I like better -- it has a rechargeable battery too, but I can plug in a microphone to make much more high-quality recordings.
