These work via iron dust. There is some moisture in them to get the iron activated, which means it is not recommended to use them with silica gel, as the silica may pull the needed moisture from these, which will keep them from working as well. These are high quality, durable, and pull a vacuum on everything I used them in. The vacuum is the key. You need an air tight container to pull that vacuum and create a good seal.
