An entry level option
This is not a good choice for outdoor cats, but it is a good one for my cat. It lets me verify that she is in the house, and what piece of furniture she's hiding behind this time.Attaching it to a standard nylon collar takes some thinking. You have to run the collar through the metal buckle first, just laying it in place. Put metal buckle on the front piece, tug up some slack in the collar, screw on the back piece with the collar running over it, then pull the slack out.Batteries in it can last a long time depending on how often you use it, but the more worn out the batteries are, the shorter the range. I get about a month at 'page anywhere in the house' then about 3-6 months at the 'walk into each room and press the button to hear the beep' stage. I'll be replacing the batteries again soon. You can use this to train your cat. Mine now knows if she gets on her kitty tower when it beeps, she gets treats. Whether or not she will depends on if she's seen the carrier and thinks a vet's visit is in the offering. This is the second one I've bought, the first one I stripped the threads on the plastic back, and it will not screw down tight any more. Use care in replacing batteries. If you have three cats, there's an option with multiple receivers. The Cat Caller - Remote with 3 Receivers - White, Blue and Pink

Too cute and not functional
The unit arrived on time and I tried it to see how it works right away. It worked about 80% of the time at close proximity. There was no connection and no beep 20% of the time. It worked about 70% of the time while at different parts of my two story house. When I was outside the house and the receiver was inside (approx. 60 - 70 ft apart), it did not work at all. Despite all that I decided to give it a try. The cute cat whiskers at the receiver unit made it difficult to pass a collar through. If you have an adjustable double thick collar, it will not go through at all. Then I thought that the cat ears were sticking out so much, they would surely get caught in something. I put the unit on our cat and let her go outside. Within few hours the top half of the unit was missing and the collar was twisted around putting a lot of pressure on the cat's neck. Even the threads were not good enough to hold together the two halfs of the receiver when the unit got caught somewhere. If you manage to pass the receiver through your pet's collar and your pet stays in the house, it may work for you. If not, forget it.

so this is a bit chunky on her collar but it does work fine when she's curled in a ball sleeping you can't ...
This works as described. I have it for my deaf kitten,so this is a bit chunky on her collar but it does work fine when she's curled in a ball sleeping you can't see the light but it's nice to know I can find her when asleep.Would give another star if it vibed or a bit more compact. Another star if I could use my phone vs a key fob.ecause

GPS is probably better if your cat has a large area he/she roams ...
I was a little doubtful if this would work over a GPS or something along those lines. GPS is probably better if your cat has a large area he/she roams in but so far our kitten keeps within our yard. We have been able to find him quite easily as long as he is within about 80' or so, the high pitched beep is fairly loud and we are finding some of his snoozing places in the house! Good product. Two months later still works a treat finding the little fella or as has happened a couple of times when he lost his collar, I can find it again! Just had to change the battery but it's a small price to pay for peace of mind...

Great tool helps with finding deaf cat
It works well in the house not very loud. Our cat is deaf so I can't comment on the training aspect. He doesn't come when you call him so it is a helpful cat finding tool. A deaf cat has it's upside I can change his name with no impact on the cat.

Poorly made cat locator device
I purchased this device for my mother so she could more easily locate her cat indoors. Unfortunately the device I ordered andreceived consists of a cheap snap together key change remote and plastic encased receiver. When the watch batteries are placedper instructions and the cat caller button pressed the receiver does nothing. I can not recommend this device due to the poorconstruction and high likely failure rate.

Best piece of junk!!
I absolutely regret purchasing this junk.I was hoping to find a device that I could use to locate my cat that is always roaming the neighborhood.Unfortunately it's not working even when my cat was very close by behind a fence.I was trying to return it and get my money back. My request was ignored. I received a replacement instead that I did not ask for.
