A SOIL MIX EXCLUSIVELY FOR CARNIVOROUS PLANTS. Using a mix of high-quality sphagnum peat moss, perlite, and coarse sand, we pride our product on being nutrient-deficient and wonderfully aerated. We wash each ingredient in rain or filtered water, prior to mixing, to ensure fine particulates are removed. Each batch of soil is tested to ensure consistency in each bag. We advise mixing our soil with distilled, filtered, or rain water prior to use. Be sure to cover the holes of your pot with the provided long fibered sphagnum before filling. You are getting the same mix that we use on our carnivorous plants! WHY NUTRIENT-DEFICIENT SOIL? In nature, some carnivorous plants thrive in bog-like conditions with plenty of sunlight. Their native habitats exhibit soil that is slightly acidic and nutrient deficient, contributing to the evolution of their carnivorous behavior.Order today and experience premium conditions for your carnivorous plants.

Not bad. Lots of perlite and sand
Great mix, nice and coarse. I purchased this mainly for the reason it's the only pre mixed carnivorous plant mix I could find with sand pre mixed. I am using this as a base for a cephalotus mix. Hopefully they will do well in this media. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that the "long fiber spaghnum" that was included had the texture of dried weeds and not quality dried long fiber spaghnum moss. This mix does have lots of sand and perlite in it though so hopefully it will provide good drainage for the cephalotus.

(Green) thumbs up!
My wife and I are recent empty-nesters, so we’ve transformed one of our bedrooms into a “meditation grotto”, complete with miniature water feature, hydroponics, grow lights, and a pair of old JBL speakers. Both of us being Aquarians, we’ve committed half the space to carnivorous plants, with an emphasis on pitcher-plant varieties that do well as houseplants. As experienced green-thumbs, we know the importance of potting our pitchers in nutrient-deficient soil, so we were thrilled to find Happy Valley Carnivores’ well-formulated product. We also appreciated the tuft of sphagnum moss that’s included in each pouch, making it easy to plug a pot’s hole but still allow sufficient drainage. Definitely planning to buy more.

Not that great and not much of it.
It's super-fine sand and small-grain perlite and a little wad of sphagnum moss. It's also not 1.5 quarts -- measured in 2 different containers at barely 5 cups. So for what you actually get, it's pretty expensive.
