Great Knives
I bought these lights after reading good reviews / ratings in Consumer Reports magazine. The didn't disappoint. The knives are extremely sharp, easy to hold and use. The included honing rod works great in keeping them sharp. I would highly recommend them. They're comparable / hold up their candle against their pricier cousins. Beware though, they are not dishwasher safe - per the instructions. I assume that's most likely due to their handles not being made of wood. But that's a small price to pay for being able to save money on a quality product.

Great knifes !! One year or so Update
Great knife set ! I spent about 2 months reading and looking for the best knifes for my price range. All in all very sharp , holds edge (so far), comfortable in hand, well made, well balanced ,block is nice looks good on counter, if your looking for a good knife set and a company who has been around awhile this is your set. You won’t be disappointed get them.Update!!!! Man oh man I still love these knifes!!!! Been almost a year I think maybe less. Still razor sharp just use your honing rod and man they stay sharp. I can't wait every time I cook dinner to use these baby's!. Great quality I would say these are worth way more than $100 I'd put these up against the other top brands guarantee they would live up to any pro chefs standards. Get them you won't regret it perfectly balanced great feeling handle exhalent for any home cook.

Amazing, especially for price
More than expected. Purchased for use in our mountain condo. Surprised how sharp out of the package and how well they held an edge. Would like a more comfortable handle, but it is still acceptable. Everything is better than advertised. Must say, bought these because of price, not brand name which is rather sketchy considering old television ads. Just bought a set for my adult child who will use them occasionally since she is not a great cook! Sorry, dear.

Not Sharp
I read about this highly rated knife set on Consumer Reports. I ordered and the shrink-wrapped block arrived with a big scratch on it. I returned it. The second set didn't have a scratch but the knives aren't very sharp. I bought a small watermelon and couldn't cut through it with the largest knife. I chopped some onions with a bit of difficulty with one of the smaller knives. These are brand new, never used knives. Very disappointing.

Cheap, not worth the money
A couple Knives came loose, out of their packaging, and looked stained already. Not sure how stainless steel can be stained from the start. As I removed one I did notice they were incredibly sharp as it cut the cardboard box by sliding against it. Since it looks like a stainless coating to the light cheap knife I can’t imagine these will last long.

Can’t beat it for the price!
I have now purchased a total of 5 of these over the years as presents for family. Everyone has loved them! If Hand washed and propperly honed, these will last a long time!I’m into these for 5 years. They stay sharp almost as long as my Henkel pro knives that cost10 times as much.If you are looking for a good set of knives but don’t need to make the jump to full professional these are the knives for you!

A real change from the original; and that's good.
I still have the original Ginsu, a hapless low cost design with a variety of serrations that render it impervious to sharpening efforts and make it akin to using a very primitive saw. I was hugely skeptical that Ginsu would put out something with heft and class, but I will say this modestly priced set is just that. First of all the ergonomic handle is very well done. Then the steel itself is good, nicely contoured and substantial. Somebody had the good sense to make the ensemble and the knife holder very eye catching, making the whole thing worthy of care. Kudos to whoever now runs Ginsu.

Excellent initial quality
Just had these for a couple of days but the 'out of the box' quality and sharpness is excellent. We wanted a great set of knives without paying a ton of money so we could throw away a large collection of so-so knives and a fits-all knife block made of those thin plastic pipes which eventually don't work properly.

Great Knives but Made in China
Great knives for the money. I was disappointed to see “China” on the other side of the blades, though. Although they are forged Japanese steel, and the have a great review on Consumer Reports, I probably wouldn’t have bought them if I knew they were made in China.
