Excellent Granny’s Crochet Book!
I love this book. Beautiful examples and illustrations. I use all kinds of different yarn and may modify to get the size I want. There are a few mistakes here and there in the written instructions but I can figure them out by looking at the photos. I am an advanced crocheter. Recommend!

An excellent book with only tiny flaws.
My version is a Kindle version, so yours may differ from mine.I was looking for a beginner Granny Square book and this looks to be one of the best. It begins with your typical supplies, then stitches, then abbreviations and symbols on patterns. The instructions are very clear, but not every single step has a photo. She assumes that you’re learning these stitches as you go and does not repeat instructions on repeated stitches, like the chain, for example. Well, that’s obviously to be expected. She introduces one of the shell stitches but fell short of letting us in on the secret of other shell stitches. Those are quite beautiful. If I had to pick out something that bothered me, it would be three things on the layout of the Granny Squares section of the book. First is the order of the Squares.Rather than starting with the easy patterns, then moving to beginner, then moving to intermediate and on to advanced, which seems the most logical, it instead jumps around. It leaves you to have to turn page after page (in Kindle) over and over again until you get one that is on the level you are looking for.The second problem is that “chapters” or Granny Squares do not start on a new page. In Kindle it makes it difficult because it’s split and you may think the photos and patterns are for another chapter. It doesn’t seem like a big problem but I wonder how many crocheted the wrong pattern believing it to be the one pictured when it isn’t.Just remember that photos and patterns come at the END of the instructions and not at the beginning. That will help you.The third problem is that the table of contents should list each Granny Square’s name. If I know I want Nicole’s Granny (funny because my sister is named Nicole and we had a “Granny”) we could find it easier. It may not be bookmarked because who knows if I’d ever use it, right? As it is, they are not in the table of contents. Do print books have it? It would be interesting to know.Outside of that, it’s a fine book! I’m very impressed with its instructional section plus the beautiful Granny Squares. They are simply gorgeous and I found myself wanting to do them all!If I could give it 4-1/2 stars I would, so I’ll round it up to 5 stars because it’s just a great book!

Examples use thin thread
I liked symbol chart as well as written instructions. I didn't like huge size using regular yarn if I follow the pattern on some of the instructions! Geared towards thin thread users.

Very Informative and Creative
I’m not new to crochet but my mother never taught me how to crochet granny squares. Now that she’s gone it means a lot to me to carry on the craft. This book showed me several things that I was flailing at. Thank you for clear and easy instructions for making granny squares and other projects.

A Must-Have!
When I was growing up I was taught how to crochet a traditional granny square, but as an adult I cringed at the thought. However, this book changed that! It's full of downright gorgeous squares that are a far cry from the traditional! With patterns and step by step, creating what you see featured in the photos of the finished squares is easy-peasy! A great book to use far getting a younger generation interested, for rekindling your interest, of for expounding upon what you already know. Also, A great gift for someone who enjoys crochet.

Beautiful squares
Tired of the standard granny squares? This is the book for you. This book has beautiful variations on the standard squares from simple to eye popping. It includes charts as well as word directions for the squares so you can see what stitches and where they should go.
