Christmas Under Wraps a charming, nice entry in the yearly lineup
My wife and I are lukewarm on the “Hallmark” style films, finding some “too sweet” for us, but try them out from time to time. Every once in awhile we find one that lets us enjoy something sweet and charming, but doesn’t go overboard, and becomes a film we would watch more than once. Christmas Under Wraps happened to be playing the other day and I watched about half before I had to go. It was nice and sweet and I thought about seeing if Amazon had it - they did and for a great price, so grabbed it. I’m glad I did. We sat and watched together and found it to be the kind of film we’d watch again and again, for date night or background or just because. Staring Candace Cameron Bure and David O’Donnell, this 2014 release follows Bure’s Lauren to Alaska as a doctor seeking to pack her resume in order to look better for a fellowship - something many of us understand. But when the people of Garland start to charm her, Lauren finds herself falling in love with the icy cold sweet spot. Add in the charming Andy (yes, this movie earns all the “charmings”) and you’re ready to watch this RomCom love story. But there is something going on here (seriously, how can you miss it) and one waits for the secret to reveal itself... which is the only weak spot, my wife and I agree. We would have liked it if the story had actually gone there a little more full in.... but in the end, they get together and all is well... and Lauren touches the people of Garland as much as they have her. Again, it would have been nice if they’d actually gone all in before the very end and with more conviction - it feels like an afterthought, but... you decide for yourself. There have been increasing numbers of Chrismas movies hitting the airwaves every year, some hit, some miss, some are just fluff filling up space. I do miss the days of quality over quantity. But in the end, unwrapping this Christmas is a charming and sweet way to spend some time and is a welcome addition to our movie collection.

Predictable and somewhat formulaic Hallmark Christmas fare!
Attractive young female doctor Lauren (Candace Cameron Bure) has a steady boyfriend (Timothy S. Shoemaker) and is on the verge of being hired by a prestigious medical facility when everything she's been dreaming of suddenly begins crashing down upon her, as her steady beau breaks up with her on the same day that she's rejected for a fellowship at the one hospital where she had applied. The only other opening immediately available is at a small hospital in rural Alaska, only reachable by airplane. Of course she takes the job, fully intending to leave as soon as something better opens up in the lower-forty-eight. But upon her arrival, she discovers that the town of Garland, Alaska really NEEDS her, and that the people are friendly and sincere. Of course, she quickly meets up with Andy (David O'Donnell), the town handyman, who also flies the airplane and was once an architect in Seattle, and things rapidly heat up between the two. Predictably, a prestigious hospital in Boston then offers her the dream job she always wanted, and what do you think happens next?

Great story but the producers goofed on one thing
Situated in an isolated town 300 miles north of Anchorage, Alaska the big goof here is that in a location that far north, the sun is only out for about 3 1/2 hours during December and yet it is sunny or daylight in about 75% of the film, including when she gets out of bed at 6:30 AM which would be about four hours before sunrise. Like many other Hallmark films, the big question that many know the answer is will the small town win over the big city? Some Hallmark films have a villain like character but here there is none except the idea of her leaving the sleepy little town for Boston which I'm sure the audience does not want to see happen. I watch several times during the season. Also the topography of the town isn't far fetched as for one, Alaska's capital Juneau is the same way in which there are no roads out of town as that's also the same with other towns.

Unwrap Garland , Alaska for Christmas
I first got to see this cute Christmas romance on Chanel 5 in the UK around Christmas time and quite frankly I had this movie down on my wish list as I wasn’t sure what it was like but, you know what I wish I had gotten it sooner. It’s another super cute get you from the beginning hallmark Christmas romance from Candace Cameron Bure. I really recommend this Movie if you’re a Christmas movie lover like myself who likes to watch those kind of movies all year round and not just at Christmas time then this is for you. If you have seen ‘Christmas detour’ with Candace then you’ll sure going to love this. Candace plays a Dr who want to take a fellowship at the same hospital as her father before her but, only she ends up taking a placement in a super cute and rather small town called Garland, Alaska which is filled with Christmas spirit , friendship and romance. It takes a while for Lauren (Candace Cameron bure) to get used to this small town but she soon realises she belongs here and not this big city after all.THIS MOVIE IS REGION 1 AND IF YOU ARE FROM THE UK LIKE MYSELF, IT WILL ONLY PLAY ON MULTIREGION PLAYERS ONLY.
