It is not an egg peeler... it is an egg shell cracker!
works perfectly. It is not an egg peeler... it is an egg shell cracker! the goal is just to impact or fracture the egg enough to enable you to peel away the shell.I think the ones failing are trying to get the whole egg shell to peel away inside the cylinder and the time it might take for the egg shell to fall off or disintegrate you could have removed the egg from the cylinder and peeled off the shell in a fraction of the time of shaking it.With a small amount of water and 2/3 shakes you can hear and feel the egg crack with a thud. stop, dont try shaking more, just pull out the egg and start peeling it. Trust me, it will peel much faster than doing it the traditional way. Sometimes it takes 5 seconds and sometimes it takes 1 second to remove the shell. It usually took me 2 to 5 minutes to peel 1 egg. was frustrating to say the least.Factors to Consider;1.) If your egg ends like soup, it is either your egg was not hard boiled enough.2.) use less vigor than you would use a salt shaker. should just be enough force for egg to travel from one end to other. Start gently, you can hear the egg and feel the egg shell break/crack and then stop.3.) too little water or too much water. I add enough water to be about level with the yellow cap and the clear cylinder meet.

Worked Great
This worked great for me- I started using it after running the eggs under cold water for about a minute (then they sat in cold water while I was going one by one)--the shells just slid off after shaking for like 10 seconds- awesome product

Works with some caveats...
So I bought this as I saw it on a YouTube short of the best kitchen gadgets to buy. I make my entire family deviled eggs every year for Thanksgiving and Christmas. That's on average about 30-40 eggs to hard boil and peel. It normally takes me 2-4 hours to peel everything and about 5-6 eggs are useless because they broke during peeling. Did I mention I HATE peeling hard boiled eggs? So when I saw this I of course had to have it.A previous review said that this thing works ONLY if you follow the instructions. Well the instructions say to boil the eggs for 11 minutes. Add a minute for larger eggs. I use store bought Grade AA eggs. I have always been taught to boil eggs for 20 minutes AFTER the water starts to boil. I do live at 6k feet of elevation. In school we did experiments to find the perfect boil time and we concluded that 18 minutes was the perfect time. So when the instructions said to boil for 11 minutes, I called Hogwash. Well I did it per instructions boiling 2 eggs. Then ice bath for 5 minutes. Then it says to pour 1/4 water into the device , insert boiled egg and shake vigorously for 6 or 7 times. I followed the instructions to the letter and ended up with egg soup. Threw that in the trash and tried again on the second egg. same result. So I boiled 2 eggs MY way and ice bathed them. Then used 1/4 or little less water, dropped in the egg and GENTLY shook the egg in the container just enough to crack the exterior which was maybe about 4 shakes. Pulled the egg out and the shell came right off, easy pezy. Tried with the second and same result. My conclusion is to boil the eggs normally as you know how and the time that you normally do. Add in a little less than 1/4 cup water and do NOT shake it hard, no need to. Don't need soup here. Just enough so the egg is cracked all the way around. if the egg fails to crack, go again a little longer. Trail and error will tell you how long and hard to do it. Therefore I do say this works and will cut my peeling time down by a substantial amount. However, I took off a star for incorrect instructions.

FUN...AND IT REALLY WORKS
This is the first egg peeler that delivers what it promises. And it's fun to use. So simple. Why it took so long for someone to think of this, I don't know. I wish I'd thought of of it. I went right back and ordered several more for gifts to my friends. They' love it.

Eggcellent peeler
As long as you poked a small hole on the large end of the egg and cooled the hardboiled egg like in a icebath or in the fridge for awhile, this peeler will weaken the shell enough to be easy to remove after a few shakes.

It works
This product is amazing. I have a son who is a chef and I'm giving him one. Also getting one for my daughter. You won't be disappointed if you buy one expecting it to work. It does.

its....ok!
so let me say i boiled 20 eggs. then after they were done boiling i put them in cold water with ice for 20 minutes and put each one of the eggs in this little thing. it works ok. about 7 of my eggs came out damaged , 3 were destroyed completely. 10 were good! so it has a 50 / 50 chance of working! i suggest being patient with this as going ham on it will def ruin eggs, and with the economy and egg prices you dont want that! i used this for my eggs, i need to make deviled eggs. so like its ok, half of them i cant use. im going to try it again later before deciding if keeping it is worth it. sometimes the egg shells peel right off, other times trying to peel it off will take some of the white with it. i would give this a 5 out of 10. its not bad but it could be better especially for the price!

Mostly good
I love hardboiled eggs but loathe peeling them. This egg peeler mostly works. You don't need a lot of water and don't need a vigorous shake. Too much shake and the egg will be destroyed. Some eggs just have softer whites and these may have chunks removed after using the peeler. Other eggs come out perfect with not a lot of effort. I gently shake until I see a nice crack of the whites--that tells me much of the shell has come off and I can finish the rest by hand. Give it try!
