Created with care and respect for the land for over 20 years the Tumacacori Mesquite Sawmill, has been granted harvesting rights to velvet mesquite trees in the Sonoran Desert, located in southwestern Arizona, in order to create a greater habitat area for the Pronghorn Antelope in the area. The Tumacacori Mesquite Sawmill creates everything from fine mesquite furniture, extraordinary custom doors, chairs, table's chairs and much much more. Fortunately for us and you they then recycle the leavings from the milling operation to create a range of functional culinary art, products that are beautiful enough to display as everyday art but durable and function for every day culinary use. The large cutting board measures approximately 15 -16 inches long by 8 - 9 inches wide. Every handcrafted piece will vary in grain, texture, and tone/color which allows the artisans to create by hand pieces of functional culinary art making it exclusively yours. Knots, inclusions, cracks and other inherent imperfections are valued in mesquite for enhancing the visual qualities but not negatively effecting the products performance in your kitchen. The Velvet Mesquite used to create this treasure is harder than oak or maple and will withstand the regular use you are sure to put this cutting board through. Care for your cutting board by simply washing with warm soapy water and dry after each use. Lightly oil the surface with mineral oil as needed to keep it looking like new. Once a week (if you use the board a lot) or only once a month (if you only use the board occasionally).
