Streetwise Transitwise New York City Subway Map - Manhattan Subway Map with New Jersey, Train, LIRR, Amtrak - NYC Metro Transit Map Map – Folded Map, January 1, 2012

I have a train obsessed son who lives in NYC and constantly tells me about the subway routes and trains that he experiences. It's darned difficult to get a plain old paper subway map to show him and with a crazy household that includes a paper tearing toddler, not exactly helpful.I've been looking around for some kind of laminated map for him for some time--but most of what I've found are large posters or tiny wallet maps--neither which is doable. I'd have settled for a placemat even. But this Transitwise Map is perfect. It folds just like the standard paper maps, but it's laminated, so much harder to damage. I don't have to worry about it getting a little wet, crumpled or chewed on (though we do try to avoid all three!). My 4 year old loves it!It has the complete MTA NYC subway system on one side (NOT just Manhattan--too often what I'd find would only feature Manhattan subway lines) On the other side, which was just added delight for me, it has the complete LIRR railway lines and Metro North lines. As a mom this is awesome. However if I shift my perspective to traveler--this would be a nice little gift for someone who's coming to live in NYC for the first time, or a slightly pricier map for a tourist type visit.Happy reading! I've been using this map (multiple copies) in my classroom during my class' New York City unit for the past several years. It is perfect for our needs, though it only shows half of Manhattan on each side, so it is not great for display purposes. We also take it with us when we visit the City on our class trip and it is perfect for walking/riding around - very clear and easy to read.Good value for the money.

This is the only map of its kind I've been able to find that is both compact, indestructible and maps out all public rail transportation options to and from New York City. The legend could be better and you may need a magnifying glass to read it but those are my only quibbles. A real lifesaver when planning trips.

This will be very helpful on my next trip to New York! The fact that it's laminated is even nicer to drop in a back pack and carry.

I will be using this in the fall and have been looking it to familiarize myself with the transit system. I expect to use it in conjunction with subway app on I Phone.

Find it all you need are subway lines or bus routes. This needs to be used in addition to another map which defeats the purpose to me. I would have preferred one map.

Worked well to travel in and around NYC for the day. Glad I had it so I didn't have to use up the battery on my phone.

Great help for me as a first time traveler to the City.

This map unfolds into five 'flyer-sized' sections making the task of reading the subway and railway map easier.What I'd call the 'front' side has a map of the NY subway system, covering Manhattan, Queens, the Bronx and Brooklyn (down to Coney Island).On the reverse is a map of the NY/NJ transit system (railways). These are lines leaving NY from its termini stations, like Grand Central, Penn station and more etc.It also includes a line into Connecticut etc.Folded it's a good size for a jackey inside pocket and , importantly, it is generally easy to read, unlike it's cousin from the same producer, the Manhattan Subways/Bus map that I also purchased.

Habe mir diese Karte für den kommenden NY-Urlaub bestellt. Was ich bis jetzt in der Hand halte gefällt mir sehr gut. Die Karte ist stabil genug um nicht gleich mit Rissen und unnötigen Knicken versaut zu werden; ausserdem ist sie laminiert, was für mich das kaufentscheidende Kriterium war. Mit dem Folienstift lassen sich ein paar Markierungen setzen, die ich im Nachgang wieder abwischen kann - genau sowas hatte ich gesucht und hier gefunden.Vom Format her passt die Karte hervorragend in mein Midori Travel Notebook und damit in eine größere Gürteltasche.Aus meiner Sicht eine klare Kaufempfehlung.

it was confusing to work out what was what to start with but after a day in NY & with the help of other maps to visualise the city it was actually really useful to work out our route

Looking forward to putting this to the test. The usual train maps always end up falling apart with so much use. This should be strong enough to last a few trips and even lend to family on their trips.
