Maybe the battery is old/defective?
I bought this battery for a solar powered light that it was supposed to be compatible with but I don't think it is. The light will turn on but will quickly go out.

Doesn't charge well
came exactly like the picture but does not seem to charge well. Giving it more time but not impressed.
